WIW : Minimal

Happy Weekend Fabbers,

I have been wanting to try this combo for a while and today it wasn't too cold for bare ankles yet was cool enough for a blazer and scarf.

I think my look is generally quite minimal, layers but not too much fuss and monochromatic but I really like this kind of pared back look for work, so I trialed it at church this morning.

The real challenge for me is wearing flats.  I always prefer how I look (in my mind taller and leaner) in heels, but I love these shoes and I am determined to have them regular rotation.

Boyfriend Jacket : Target
Sleeveless V neck top : Suzanne Grae
Slim Pants : Katies
Laceless Oxfords : Wittner

What do you think?  Does it work for me?  Can I get away with wearing a flat heel and not look too dumpy:) ?

Thanks for your thoughts.

xxx Deborah

This is fabulous!  And not ALL that minimal.  I would wear all of it!

This is a great look, Deborah!  Well put together!

Fab! Love the scarf on you, and the red bag is a nice pop. What color are your nails? Black or metallic something? They look cool!

You look great in the flats, Deborah! I think the narrow legged pants make them work especially well here; your legs look long. The whole outfit is a winner. I like the touch of menswear style on you, with the oxfords and the boyfriend blazer.

    Thank you!

Una would you say that the version without the scarf is minimal?

Fuzzy, thank you... good to see you on the Forum.

Torontogirl, my nail are a dark navy :)

Firecracker, I should have posted my Pinterest inspiration so here it is.

You look awesome! Definitely not dumpy... I really like it with the flats, #3 especially. Although the look with the scarf is great too.

It's a great outfit, Deborah, and you don't look at all dumpy in flats.

    Great Deborah!
The little heel on your flats makes a difference to the leg-line too.
It was WAY too cold here today to have any bare skin exposed.

I really like this, Deborah. You look so comfortable yet polished. The flats are no problem at all, and you can wear them with the greatest confidence. You look lean no matter how you wear your shoes.

You look great! Petite but not stumpy. The column of colour, the just right length of the jacket and slim pant leg give the illusion of length. Love the whole look and would happily wear the same....though I wouldn't be able to resist a little heel.

IMO Deb, you are Queen Proportion and you always put outfits together creating the effect of you looking verrry tall and lean. This outfit is no exception. Love.

You look long and lean to me.  Love the pants.  Your outfits are always so well co-ordinated.  And to echo Diane you are definitely the Queen of Proportions.

Flats worked perfectly on you...gorgeous as always!!

Of course it works, you look fab!

Fantastic! One of my favorite ever.

Perfect, Deb. Love the pointier oxfords, their shine, the slim pant, everything! And the clutch is the cherry on top:)

Great look. And this made me laugh. I picked up a bag in that orangey/red while shopping yesterday (I was in a black and white outfit). It looked great but I wasn't sure I felt comfortable adding color. I ended up not purchasing it because of the tiniest gold hardware that attached the straps. But I am thinking about how I feel with a colored bag for S/S. Your look has my wheels turning because it looks fab!

Love this with the flats. Those shoes are great and you look wonderful! I love the red bag, and the scarf. I think those are my favorite versions. The necklace is ok, but the other accessories really add more of a "wow" factor without being too much.

    #3 is Killer

I love how you broke up the black with the scarf and bag. Wooohooooo.

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

Fantastic! The flats are perfect and no frump in sight. I think it is the fit of your pants that is perfect for them. The pattern and pop of color are great.

I read your post and was wondering how the pictures would look, but you look fabulous in those flats and pants!

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

Love #3 too. Are the sleeves a little wide Deborah or is it just the pics? They look fine in 3 - maybe because your arms are at your sides.

  • AJ replied 9 years ago

Oh this look is fabulous even with the flats! Nicely pinmitated! (Ha, just made that one up!)

Oxfords look fantastic here. You never look at all stumpy. YLF!
