WIW: MC Gig #1

Hi Ladies,

It has been the most fun couple of weeks being involved in our annual Fashion Festival meeting and working with some lovely people.

This outfit is what I wore on Saturday to MC a Make Over Competition in the Mall. DH took some photos of me "in action" so to speak, and I was pleased with how this outfit worked.

We had 6 nominees who received makeovers from local retailers and they looked fantastic. The winner was a gorgeous 42 year old mum of 3 who over the past 4 years has worked so hard to lose 25 kg and Increase her fitness. Another nominee was a beautiful 74 year old woman who has worked in East Timor who totally rocked a pair of cobalt skinny jeans!

I have to say I don't know how Angie does it! With all the meetings and events I have attended for this, I felt "obligated" to be on top of my style game at all times! It was a little "taxing":)

Mind you I am so grateful for what I have learnt here at YLF and for the wardrobe I have been working on over the past year. Prior to YLF, being involved in something like this would have turned me into a basket case over my wardrobe and what I was going to wear. The outfit I had planned for Saturday wasn't working and I was able to switch out to this one (with not much time to spare) with little to no stress.

I'm not suggesting this is a perfect outfit, and it highlighted the extra kilos that winter left behind, (lol) but I can look at these pictures and feel ok about the choice I made:)

Thanks for looking:)

xxx Deborah

Deb, you look lovely! I'm not sure I've seen you in jeans before?! Love the combination of white, denim and coral - you are surely rocking this look. I'm sure you were an awesome MC! :)

Deborah - you look stunning. Elegant, easy, springlike, yet modest - as befits a host and MC. You would be highly visible in the white, yet you wouldn't seem to be overtaking the main stars of the show. PERFECT. I love the glints of silver, too.

    Happy sigh....

I cannot thank you enough for your kind comments:) I know I have already worn the outfit but please know that I am very open to suggestions for improvement so please don't be shy if you feel there is something I have missed here.

Krista I do wear jeans quite a bit, but mostly skinny or straight leg. My bootcuts don't get worn as often.

Suz, I wish as I was as articulate as you:) That's exactly what I was going for so I am thrilled.

Merwoman, such a lovely thing to say. Taking photos of my outfits has had such an impact on my confidence and has really helped to pinpoint the details that work and don't work in my outfits.

Angie, what can I say, you are the best!! I am really touched by your words. I know I have said it before but I look to you as my style mentor and I am so grateful for how you share your knowledge and encourage and direct each of us in our personal style journey xx

Caro, I am defintely getting that place of my wardrobe working for me! And Im loving it... most of the time :)

Anna, Thistle & Pil, thank you, you all have great and diverse style and really appreicate your thoughts.

Soobee, thank you and it's really nice to see you back on the forum.

Shannon, your words always provide such a boost and encouragement thank you.

And Nicole, you are a sweetie but the summer eating plan is now in place :)

And thank you all so much for allowing me to share this with you. It has been such a exciting time for me to be involved in these events and utilise my skills (not just the MCing but my events management and organisational skills) in an area that really 'lights my fire'. You have all been so encouraging and I would just love to give you all a big hug... xxx

I didnt get photos on the night of the fashion parade as it was all quite hectic but I will 'recreate' the outfit for a picture and post soon.

Really you look just lovely, elegant, current - just everything you would want on that day. The necklace is a great touch. I don't see any extra kilos either, btw. The jeans are very flattering and your legs look very long. In short, gorgeous.

  • anne replied 11 years ago

A very sophisticated look, Deborah - love the white in particular.

  • Tanya replied 11 years ago

Those outfits look just great. And girrrl I am lovin those shoes. White looks awesome on you! I am going through a gold to silver conversion and am lovin' the silver accessories.

Wow! That really was the perfect outfit for the event described.
Elegant yet approachable at the same time.
I attended a workshop at my local shopping centre recently, all very low key and casual. BUT the stylists were kind-of overdressed in skirts and heels, and I am not sure how many 'ordinary ladies' would have felt comfortable asking for advice etc.
Looking forward to seeing your parade outfit too.

You are so elegant in this outfit, which has a real 70s vibe. (That's a compliment coming from me.) And I love that a 74 year old was wearing colorful skinnies!!!

I hope in 20 years, when I am 74, I am still posting WIWs here on YLF with all of you lovely ladies.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Thanks Lyn. Skirt and heels would have been SO over the top in Bendigo Mall:)

Denise, I hope I'm here to see you rocking your coloured skinnies at 74!

  • rute replied 11 years ago

    GORGEOUS!

  • lyn67 replied 11 years ago

This is just fabulous, Deb! Love the white jacket, and blouse with that statement necklace, silver belt, and the red scarf-for me it's so sophisticated, but jeans tone this down and tucking in just screams fearless and confident(at least for me!!) so no extra kilos to be concerned for-)).

  • Queen Mum replied 11 years ago

love, love, love!!! You look so chic and fresh in white!

  • christy replied 11 years ago

Deborah, what a stunning outfit! It looks perfect for the occasion and strikes all the right notes. I think you look amazing in the white and I love that great necklace. Great shoes too! The coral scarf is a great pop of color but the outfit certainly stands on its own without it. Lovely, polished, and stylish!

  • Carole replied 11 years ago

    Stunning, beautiful, chic, classy!

  • Mo replied 11 years ago

The white on white is striking! You look wonderful and just the right amount of polished and approachable.
