WIW : Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress....

Ok I was 7 when this Hollies song came out and I remember hearing it on the radio... my mum liked the Hollies:) Im not tall (long) but I can dream right?... but I am wearing a black dress :) And good post titles are getting harder to come by lol.

This is a dress I bought a few months back in preparation for summer. This is it's second outing.

Our summer tends to be so hot that very loose fitting garments are my preference, even though they are not always the most figure flattering, however I feel this one works quite well. This dress has a subtle uneven hemline and has a really interesting feature where the fabric is pleated a little on the right side.

What appeals to me is that there are a number of ways to style this. For the office, heeled shooties and a shorter, slightly longer than choker length, heavy silver necklace works, I can layer over and under it and for today at church I wore it as seen below with slightly slouchy leggings, suede sandals and long silver pendant.

It was one of those days. I am so tired to day and I took sooo many photos but there was no hiding the bags under my eyes, so please excuse my fatigue. May plop on the couch now for a nana nap :)

Thanks for looking and as always your thoughts and suggestions are much appreciated.

xxx Deborah

Cool and comfy. I love those shoes every time you wear them. :)

I love to catch your posts. Love your style and you wear what you wear so well. I'm gleaning a lot of ideas...I live in a mainly warm climate also.

"Saturday night I went downtown..."--perfect title :). I'll fall asleep with that in my head!

That is one nicely designed dress - you look great!

Oh, this is such a nice, easy looking outfit!  I really love it - and I think the leggings with those sandals give such a great illusion of continuation - very cool!  I don't see the bags that you are talking about - but, I can so relate to trying to find a pic that disguises your "tiredness" - hope you got in a nap today!

Love this look, a beautifully simple dress. I can see you'll get lots of use out of this over summer :)

It's a great dress, and I think the leggings running into the sandals with no gap makes it much more interesting than just the dress on its own. It reminds me of some of my favorite looks from the Odyssey Home blogger who I think you've mentioned also enjoying.

Thank you lovely ones:). I am pleased you like the dress. I expect it to be a workhorse through the warm weather. Greyscale, Stephanie (Odyssey) does wear the leggings sandals like this and which I did drawer inspiration from. In fact I have just got my leggings out for the first time in ages. If I had her wardrobe, I'd be one very happy woman:)

I love this. And I would love to wear this too ;-)

The pleats are a great detail and I totally get that such little things can bring so much joy. I think you'd love some stuff from COS, they always have these interesting little tweaks which add character to their garments.

The dress looks great! I like how you have it styled now and how you can do so much with it.

And now that song is stuck in my head. Thanks. :)

Hi Deborah, I just want you to know that there are no noticeable signs of fatigue on your face. You look striking and cool in your loose black dress and leggings. I love the edge for you, it really works. It's hard to go loose without looking frumpy (well it is for me), but you are doing everything just right. I think having the right designer cuts is imperative. And having your dress in black instead of a twee floral doesn't hurt either. You have really amped up your Summer style. Well done!

Strikingly edgy, Deb. And absolutely no sign of fatigue :)

I love this look and those sandals are the best - wish I had weather to justify something similar.

That look like a great summer dress and as you say, easy to dress up and down with footwear and accessories.

Love the drape of the dress - YLF.

Love the dress, love the song.  I often play it when I'm driving home after a long day--keeps me energized and alert.

I'd love to find a similar dress to wear in warmer weather here.
