WIW : Linen! Thanks Traci

A little while back Traci posting a couple of items from Not Perfect Linen and I really liked them :) She vouched for the quality, sizing and fabric so I ordered a Japanese Apron Dress, something I have been wanting for quite a long time :)

I am thrilled with it. Linen has not been on my radar since the 90's lol but I suspect I will be adding more slowly. I now have the Washed Kimono Dress on my wish list (I think Traci was eyeing that too).

So here it is on it's first outing. I am planning on also wearing it with a long white shirt/tunic that will 'billow' out of the cross over at the back.

Thanks for looking. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but I'm very happy lol.

This is so cool!  I'm not sure what I think of it - but it is interesting, practical, obviously beautifully constructed (or you wouldn't be wearing it - ha) and suits your aesthetic.  I didn't expect the back to be open, as in an apron, and maybe that's why I'm a bit stumped ;)  I'd also like to see it with something angular and in grey or a silver linen....for another look.  I bet it's as comfortable as can be though :)

Perfect earrings for this dress! If it were me, I'd enjoy wearing all kinds of colored and patterned pants under the dress, but I'm not sure if your style is tending more minimal or maximal these days.

Lisa thanks:)  I love the idea of grey or silver with it.  To be honest I have been considering one of their very simple slim line linen dresses to wear under it.. grey might be the go.  I am not really sure if it's meant to be worn with the back open, but that is how I intended to wear it.  I like the idea of the interest being at the back :)

3style, thanks so much, my friend made the earrings:)  I am more minimal so the idea of colour and pattern, while it would absolutely work, wouldn't be so comfortable for me.

Experimenting is the fuel for great creations :) I love seeing these different looks!

What a fun look on you.  I love the surprise at the back.  The earrings really are great with that outfit.  Isn't linen wonderful?

Wow! This is an amazing piece! It looks gorgeous and the Japanese styling shines through. I love the detailing at the hem of the white under dress. Great styling with the sandals.

Interesting look.  Very well constructed and I love Japanese fashion.  I adore your sandals and earrings.

I adore the front of this and am intrigued by the back, Deborah. I love the idea of a simple gray slim line linen dress under this.

I have pinned several patterns for just this garment, Deborah.  I love the lines in your version, and the fabric sounds lovely!

Your shoes are a perfect choice with the outfit -- they're bold, but the light color keeps them from looking heavy.

I love it front AND back and adore the earrings! What an amazing find for you! It's perfectly within your aesthetic yet a slight change as well. Brilliant!

Linen looks sooooo much better to me in Summer. A match made in heaven in hot weather. Super Cute apron/lagen look.

LOVE your '80s earrings, and that you aren't wearing black from head to toe as much anymore. Rock on.

I have a Not Perfect linen pinafore too! Mine is grey-green and I wear it daily for cooking dinner. Never occurred to me to style it as actual clothing out of the house, though (mine probably has too many oil stains at this point!). This looks wonderful. Love it. :)

I love it! And I agree with everyone that a linen dress under it would be a great look.

    This is a fun outfit!

    I really love this!

Elle, I have a renewed appreciation for linen. I really did not enjoy it in the 90's but I think it might have something to do with quality.

Thanks Jane, I am playing with some other layering ideas too :)

Style Fan, me too, and I am keen to explore more Japanese inspired ideas.

    Viva, thanks so much.

Beth Ann, that's funny as I have also been busy pinning patterns but I am not a good sewer :(

Thanks so much Suz, I think this is a slight direction change that I am keen to pursue further.

Thanks so much Angie.  I have always thought of Linen as a summer fabric too, tho I can see how this weight linen would work in Autumn and Spring, still not sold on Winter :)  I am definitely incorporating lighter tones, in fact having a bit of a love affair with white, but just don't look at my Instagram because I am still wearing very black heavy outfits.xxx

Lol La Pedestrienne, you are one stylish cook.  I love the idea of wearing 'work' clothes as fashion :)

Greyscale, looks like I need a linen dress lol

    Thanks Lisa xx

Traci thank you and thanks so much for the recommendation.  Hope you are enjoying your pieces xx
