WIW : Layered

Happy Sunday Ladies!

It is a hot one here today and to be honest I really didn't want to get dressed. I was happy to get home from church (which thankfully does have excellent air conditioning) and pop on some very loose and flowy lounge wear.

Despite the heat, I couldn't help but layer, it must be in my DNA:)

This is the Metalicus Gene Tank Dress and layered over it is the Metalicus Columbus Crop Tee.  Sandals again, are by Django & Juliette.  And I am wearing a slip with adjustable straps which I have fashioned after the very cool HL Asymmetric bra that I am keen to purchase.

This dress is fab, so easy and comfy to wear but too bodycon to be worn on it's own (for me).  I did purchase it tho, with layering in mind so that's not an issue.

I have to say cost per wear on my Metalicus pieces is already reducing very quickly:)

Does this layering work?  I felt the proportions were ok.  I am loving this tee so much I desperately want it in black... and navy .. and... lol:)  That might be a goal for Boxing Day to head to their outlet and see if they have them:)

Also, a bonus pic of Master 11.  He actually requested I take the photo and share it with you.   He is becoming very fashion conscious and knows what he likes.  He has been wanting a waistcoat for a while and I finally found one in a thrift store.  It has been home made and is beautifully lined and well made.  It's a wool and in navy blue.  Not great for summer, but I have found another at one of our stores that is lighter weight and will get that for him for Christmas.  But despite the heat, he absolutely loved it and has it worn it since I brought it home for him :)

Thanks for looking and thanks for taking the time to comment.  I value your thoughts.
xxx Deborah

Oh, I love the tee over the dress! I wish I had one to put with my tube skirts!
I can see that Master 11 is having fun with fashion. He looks great!

Adelfa, these tees are such beautiful quality fabric and barely need pressing after washing;). Here's a link for you;). Not that I am enabling at all;). 25% off at the moment and they ship out of Australia;).

I love the hi lo hem of the top over the dress & the volume of it over the more fitted dress. I'm also loving the black & white outfits on you. Your son looks great. He has inherited your style gene. My stepson had us buy him a waistcoat too. He wants to look like Adam Levine.

Yes! You should duplicate the T!! Fab! And that is so cool about the assymetrical HL bra - I saw it online and wondered who would wear that and how.....well you've answered my question! You have to get one (although what you've done looks great!). Your DS looks very cool. Don't you love it when they take a shine to something? My older DS took a shine to a fedora style hat when we were on vacation last summer. He wore it everywhere. You can see a little spring in their step when they are feeling cool and confident.

Absolutely works.  I love the angled hem on the t-shirt layered over the slim long skirt.  I think the lines created by this look are lovely and oh so flattering.  FAB.

Your outfit looks smashing, Deborah. I like the echo of the asymmetric straps of your faux-HL top with your sandals! You are a genius. Master 11 looks so stylish, too. Perfect understated casual look with that waistcoat, slouchy jeans, and sneakers!

Oh, really sorry, but I can't get past the last pictie for a matter. Master 11, please tell him, is such a handsome and fashion conscious guy!

Then, recovering after some smelling salts, could I only see your very clever and purposeful layerings with the metallicus items:-). Surelly, You have the layering magpie, as this is not a common layering (very different and very interesting one)  but still-can I ask how could you bear all those layers in a heat?

  • thimblelina replied 9 years ago

Yes, great layers. And love the assymetric tank/bra straps!

Love the layered look and the addition of white... It really is such fun when our children start developing their own style... I had such fun with my kids when they were that age.. We will never forget the orange pants that my now 1 year old couldn't get enough of and they even zipped off to become shorts...

I always love black and white and this totally works. Love the shape and drape of the tee shirt hem with your skirt.... good looking sandals too Deborah. How sweet that your son wanted his WIW posted! Keep cool!

DS clearly steals the show :) ... Love his choice of shoes and the perfect fitting jeans! And look at that cool guy pose :)

I love how the layered tee creates an interesting neckline here. Fab outfit!

Adore both outfits - the straps create a great visual.

What a cool  'Dude' DS is, and he is very photogenic too!
Oh, and I like your interesting straps under the dress Deborah :)
Any news re. the Metalicus competition yet?

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Lyn67, I think I manage because I am a bit of an indoors person and have air con almost everywhere I go :)

LynD, he is a spunky little boy:)  I will do an update in the off topic section, but I came in third, which was awesome.  I am actually just struggling with Metalicus on line ordering at the moment because I want to order the California Wrap and the seamless dress but the system is playing nice:)

You look gorgeous in this, and your hair looks fantastic!! I am really liking the color and the cut. And I LOVE the pic of your son. He looks really cool in this. I need to show Ethan to give him some ideas. :-)

Does this work??? Are you kidding me??? This is FANTASTIC Deborah - love white near your face and the strong nature of black/white together. The shape of the dress and tee work beautifully layered and how clever are you to change up the slip strap. Love this from pretty head to gorgeous toe :)

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Beautiful layering. I really like how you arranged the straps. I love this cool layered look but can't do it successfully myself. I'll enjoy it on you.
Master 11 takes after you with his layering. He looks great.
