WIW In A Heat Wave!

Well ok, I am probably exaggerating a little:). But I don't enjoy the heat and find summer the hardest season to dress for.

So for our first 40 degree day I wore this somewhat uninspired combo.

Old polka dot dress (had the flared skirt tapered last year) with red belt, black waterfall jacket and open toe black patent black wedges. White watch and pearl earrings but no other accessories. No pic but carrying my red bag:). Hubby was sweet and said i looked nice and that this dress was more "fun" than one I was originally planning to wear:)

I know my white jacket would have been a better choice but it's a thicker fabric and quite structured making it too hot for today. I only had the jacket on for the commute to work and may pop it back on for a meeting I have shortly... and I do kind of like how the black slims down my hips a bit! Lol

A coloured short jacket is on my wish list and i quite like the idea of popping a nice bright colour over this dress.

I am keen to update my dresses for summer but everything is sleeveless and I don't want sleeveless! So I might have to make do with what's already in the wardrobe:(

Thanks for looking and your thoughts appreciated. I'm not sure how truly reflective of my current style this dress is.

Have a great day Fabbers and Aussie girls, keep hydrated and don't forget the sunscreen.

xxxDeborah

You always look so polished! I think the colored belt works great in place of a bright jacket but a bright topper would be fun too. Great print dress--love the dots :)

  • lyn* replied 11 years ago

Whoa! I love the dots! :) I think I'm going to try a purple belt with my next dotty outfit!

  • Charmian replied 11 years ago

Oh, I love that print. Totally on Team Geometric here. The red belt is a nice way to draw the eye to your lovely waist.

Is there neckline detail there? Those graduated dots are throwing my eye off.

That dress is awesome, I love the graphic design and the touch of red in the belt. Cute shoes, too.

Another fan of the polka dots and I agree that the belt is a lovely substitute for a bright topper. You look great!

Love the bright red belt with the polka dot dress. I'm amazed how fresh you look given the heat!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Deborah, you look sensational in this dress. I adore it! The belt is just the right touch. I would never know it was 40 degrees where you are! I like this black topper, actually...but a short coloured one will be equally terrific.

Wow. Just marvelling at how wonderful you can look in the heat.

That is a very cool dress! What a good idea to have it tailored into a pencil shape. You look great.

I really like the look of the structured dress with the more arty jacket with the flyaway sides. Very nice.

You look cool & fab. Love the print.

Hot again here too. I just did a Pilates class so I'm going for my second shower when I stop playing on here.

Ladies, thank you for your kind comments. This dress is a good hot day dress so Im glad you think it's ok. It can spend another summer in my closet :)

Caro I don't know how you manage to excercise in this weather! I have just been out for an our doing some general running around for work and I have just returned to the office feeling somewhat frazzled.

Suz, I quite like the black topper too, but i am finding that black doesn't excite quite as much as it used to ... I have been YLF'd! I am finding myself reaching for colour much more often than before and given it's such a hot day the black seemed somehow a little demure... but definitely workable.

I love the graduated dots on this dress. You look fabulous. I like the skinny red belt and the jacket. With or without the jacket you look great. I cannot say enough about how flattering this outfit is on you. I would totally wear this in a heatwave. Bravo!

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

The dress is great - I love how the dots vary and I do think it is very flattering on you. You do look so cool and collected. At 40 degrees I am a frizzy and frazzled mess.

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

Love the polka dots with the black jacket! You look crisp, summery, and professional.

  • Parsley replied 11 years ago

I love that dress on you, Deborah!

What makes you say that it's not indicative of your current style?
To me it is Deborah-fabulous to the max!

The jacket looks good, too, but I can tell you that I would have that jacket off in an instant in 40° heat!

Loving the dots. Black and white stays crisp looking in the heat, so it's a great choice. I'm curious to know what direction you style is headed? I hear more color? Anything else inspiring you?

  • nancylee replied 11 years ago

You look terrific in this dress. Black and white and red are really your signature colors. :)

  • Laura replied 11 years ago

I sympathize with your tendency to wilt in the heat, and this dress looks so neat and fresh despite the heat. Well done!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

It appears I looker fresher than I feel lol.

Parsley and Beth Anne I think I am endeavouring to add edge to my modern classic and this dress is so typically 'me' that as in quite classic that I was feeling a little bored by it.

So pretty and so you! Way to beat the heat in style, Deborah.

  • pil replied 11 years ago

This IS lovely on you Deborah. Do you have a particular color in mind for your new jacket?

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

pil, im not sure re color. Cobalt is tempting but I have a bit of that now, so I am thinking red or coral... but Im open to suggestions:)

A lovely dress and it looks cool and refreshing on you Deborah! I'm not tired of it on you. I'm curious about the material. Do you have a lot of humidity with that heat?

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Thanks Claire :) It was the polka dot dress that you no longer have that inspired me to have this one tapered. The fabric is lovely and soft but a polyester and it is lined. Melbourne tends to be quite humid but here in Bendigo (2 hours in land) it is mostly a very dry heat. We would get a handful of days of humid sticky (hair frizzing) weather but that's all.

Deborah, fab dress! You look great.

  • rute replied 11 years ago

I KNOW what you mean! It's very difficult to dress stylish for a very hot day, but you are always perfect!
