WIW: Harem Pants V.2.0

Hi Ladies,

I'm pretty sure this only the second outfit I have put together with my harem leggings.

With a view to a job change hopefully not too far off, I have been messing around with "suit" ideas and trying them out in my current job:).

So today's offering! Harem Leggings, ankle boots, cream drape top (you have seen me in the black version of this) and black ponte jacket. I was pretty sure when I bought this jacket that it would work well over the harems. The Harem leggings need a longer topper to "reign in" the extra fabric at the hip (and without adding extra bulk, and I think this jacket does the trick...anything shorter creates (to my eye) an unattractive silhouette.

What do you think. Work appropriate? Any other ideas you have for wearing these pants for work or play would be appreciated.

Thank for looking and commenting.

xxxDeborah

Ps...my pose this morning is all about trying to hide the bags under my eyes, not a good nights sleep:( lol......vanity!!

Ooh, gorgeous! Love the slim leg on these. SO pretty, Deborah!

This *looks* really comfortable not to mention the usual Debora-tastic fabness. Great jacket too. I probably missed something, but the other job. opportunity you mentioned a while back is still in play?

    This totally works.

I think it works too. I would also love to see them with a lighter-weight, pointed toe shoe, especially for work.

So fabulous. You have an artistic and beautifully honed style.

I totally think this is work appropriate.

Very pretty outfit Deborah! I think it's a fun, modern take on a suit.

Thanks everyone:)  The pants are so comfortable its almost wrong :)

Pil, yes that job application is still in process. Applications closed just over a week ago so I am hoping to hear something soon.  They did contact me after I submitted my application to say they had it and that it would be a few weeks again before I heard back from them.

Caro, yes a pointed toe would be a good alternative.  For warmer weather my pointed toe black D'orsay Flats would work, although my preference with these pants is for a heel.  I have been wanting to add a pair of pointed toe pumps and pointed toe ankle boots to my collection but haven't yet seen anything I am crazy about that fits my budget.  Im on the lookout.

Well I cannot judge work appropriateness without knowing the office, but it certainly is style appropriate to say nothing of absolutely fabulous ;-)!

Super outfit, Deborah. I do like the jacket with the harem pants; both the streamlined jacket and the dressy feel of the white draped top give the harem pants a professional air. So I can see the outfit going to some work environments; certainly in mine it would be fine (retail), and I wore my harem pants to work today.
Other ideas for the pants. . . . You said they require a little longer top, but I also think you need to show the front, right? That's part of what works so nicely in pairing this jacket with them. So I was wondering about your asymmetrical black top; you wore it in the recent post where you revealed your new hair style. And any kind of semi-tuck looks, where you can tuck the front just a bit and let the sides and back hang down.

Totally great and polished for work and love your approach of a perfect Deb's suit:-)

BUT shoot me down for that I  would think twice before using harem pants to an interview, except that would be in a creative field, or so:-).

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Lyn, I don't think I would risk them for an interview either:).

I love it! The jacket does seem to go perfectly with the pants.

Deborah - this is definitely the harem "suit"  so elegant and very flattering!!  Love it and your proportions are perfect!!  Amazing how these can swing casual to dressy, such a great piece!!

It is a treat to see the black softened by white. This outfit is totally Deborah and totally fabulous.

This works brilliantly together Deb. I adore the fit of those harem pants on you.
