WIW : Grey Marle

Hi Ladies,

Greetings from freezing Bendigo!!

Dressing for warmth today and I was reasonably warm in the office but to be honest one of those fluffy onesy's that the young ones wear would have been perfect lol.

Outfit:

Metalicus Drape Jacket
Witchery Long Sleeve Top
Millers Ponte Pants
Serra Ankle Boots
Oroton Bag

This top is current season and was gifted to me by one of the my close girlfriends.  One of her school mum friends purchased it online and it didn't work for her so she passed it to my friend (not her style) who passed it to me.  Today is the first time I have worn it.

Ok off to get into my snuggie :)

Thanks for taking a look.

xxx Deborah

Lovely outfit Deborah. I particularly like how you added things to make the grey marle top (the sort of top I'd just skim past in a shop) work in with your usual stylish way.

I hear you on the weather (In fact you're colder than us, as usual, but this has been pretty cold). The last few nights I've worn a skivvy and a sweatshirt to bed. One daughter wore 2 dressing gowns to bed. They do love their fluffy onesies and have been known to wear them all day on staying at home days.

Anne I wore a long cardigan over my pj's last night and slept in it:)  Master 12 wore his onesie to bed last night which is so unusual because he runs hot particularly at night, but there he was, all rugged up and a doona and blanket!!

And thanks!  I must confess that I wouldn't have bought this top but I do like it and am glad I can make it work.

I love that top, Deborah. It looks really wonderful layered under the

Metalicus drape jacket. I also love your bag very much....it really ties the whole look together.

BTW, I have to say you have the most perfect manicured hands! And every time I see your WIWs I appreciate the beautiful red nail polish. Very very pretty, especially with your stunning lipstick!

The hair is doing so great too! I am glad that you didn't have any issues with styling. There were a lot of Fabbers who got a new hairstyle around the time you got the haircut and it hasn't worked out very well for everyone. Your hairstyle is truly 'You' - Effortless, Elegant, Chic and Stylish.

Hope the warm snuggie helped! Hats off to you....I cannot imagine ever looking stylish or so chic when I'm freezing! I layer like a hobo and look like one too on most days!!!!

I hate winter so much. Its not uncommon for me to wear a full sleeved knit t-shirt, a light cashmere sweater over that, another thick knitted woolen sweater over that, and a puffer jacket over ALL that if I want to go for a walk. Oh, and I would wear thick corduroy pants or woolen pants on the bottom too on days when denim isn't warm enough! Also add a woolen cap, thick gloves and woolen knitted socks over regular socks ---- my winter look is the polar opposite of stylish! :P

Maneera  you are so sweet.  There is no way you could ever look like a hobo:)  And thanks for the hair comments.  I am starting to have a play with some products to create a more textured modern look :)

Keep doing what you're doing. The hair is fabulous!

You look great! I agree with Anne, that is the kind of top that don't jump off the rack at me, but here you have styled it beautifully. Perfectly "you".

It's even coolish in sunny Brisbane. No need for a onesie just yet, but I did wear a jacket the last two days. I only saw one man in shorts today - that means in is cold!

I too am loving gray this Winter!
You could try the rubber-band on one side trick that was talked about last week for variety with this top.
We are really having a proper cold season this year- my heavier knits and scarfs gave been worn more than ever.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Lucy, I see Men in shorts and flip flops all year in Bendigo but at the moment not seeing much lol.

Lyn it is so cold.  I am actually wearing my coats this winter.  I haven't really needed them the past few years but I couldn't make it without them this year.  And I will try the rubber band trick, or even a side semi tuck as I think that would add interest.

Great outfit Deborah. I love how you made the gifted top work and that you paired it with your fabulous Oroton bag. I particularly love the contrast of your red nails.

It has been cold up here too! I'm sitting here in a fluffy poncho over a cashmere poloneck over a cashmere tank!

Beautiful! Love the marl under black. Fab bag too! You look impeccable as always Deb.

What a great girlfriend you have! Top is quite your way-marl is like a print, but rather a texture, like slub, right? I love me some marl, and your outfit is fab, bag included! Is it pale  blue? Nice subdued hint of color, to a monochromatic outfit, I want it, too:-)

    Beautiful, head to toe!

Deborah - what a score!  I always look for this type of thing - subtle pattern with b/w/g colorway.  I wish I could find it.  Just looks wonderful!

  • Laurie replied 8 years ago

love the drape of this, the pendant, the textures.  my favorite outfits of yours are when you add a lighter feature to the column of black, deborah - they always bring out my comments!
sorry you are freezing, i truly hate winter and would rather be hot than cold any day.  loving our summertime in Washington, DC.  come visit!

I love the subtle pattern of the marle with your traditional black. Fabulous with that jacket, Deborah.

I am noting that all you Aussies are taking about it being cold, but I don't see any numbers!!  Come on, fess up.  :)

(and I am just kidding, everything is relative)

Great addition to your wardrobe Deborah... as others have said, you have a great way of making pieces that may not be things you'd gravitate to, work for you.

    Glam and fab, as usual!

Deborah, you know I have nothing but gush for all your outfits! :)

My husband is Australian and has many happy memories of Bendigo!

I love this top on you and the way you've put it together. The bag is gorgeous. I've bought a couple of this type knit, and while I like them, I can't stand them on me. Looking at you makes me think that maybe the problem is the style and not the knit.
