WIW : Fade to Grey

Hi Fabbers,

I mentioned in a post early in the month that DH and I were making changes to our diet for our health, well being and weight, and we are progressing well and starting to see changes:)

Due to those changes, I got to wear this grey skirt for the first time.  It fitted before but was really too firm around the tummy to be comfortable.  Slipped it on today and the fit is much better.

The skirt is by a brand I was not familiar with called Kondo Tricot.  Upon doing some research I think they are responsible for the Moshi Moshi label.  It's a beautiful skirt, a dark grey, pleated on one side with the pleats fallling from just below hip level and gathered into a band at the hemline.  The other side is more draped with two big slouchy pockets.  It 100% silk twill and falls and flows so beautifully.  I also felt it lent itself rather nicely to a volume on volume look.

So I paired it with what is possibly my all time (for now at least) favourite top, the Metalicus Marlini Drape Top, my Rubi sandals and what is fast becoming my go to pendant, a sterling silver Bee on a leather strap.

Thanks for looking:)  And your feedback, suggestions etc all very much appreciated.

xxxDeborah

PS.  my title references a favourite band from the 80's.. anyone recall Visage??  To jog your memory  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMPC8QJF6sI

What an amazing skirt! It looks gorgeous on you! I can just imagine that silky drape. It's so elegant yet arty at the same time -- really works well with the top, as you say! And the silver bee adds just the right shine.

What else do you think you will wear with this skirt?

Congrats on the improvements to your diet and on your results! That's a great feeling.

Thanks Suz :)  To be honest I can only think of two other tops I have that would work with this skirt and both are black:)  I have wondered if my red top (just like the black one here) might work?  I am planning on playing with my jackets though as for Spring I could potentially see a shortish jacket working over it:)

Terrific skirt and it looks great here with your favorite top. Love the bee too (my middle name is Deborah).

That skirt is so beautiful that you will either just love it with this top and a few others or some new favourites will just appear... the skirt is the statement so enjoy it!

You wear that skirt beautifully. I like the color on you, and the fabric and style are luscious. It's terrific with the top and sandals.

Oh! Shevia, thank you. I knew there was some connection to the bee but my mind didn't make the connection. That makes it all the better.

I should get a "lily" necklace. Hmmm.

Deborah, somehow I don't imagine you will be happy with the red top and the grey skirt. Too...mmm....almost like two colours? I might be wrong, though -- that red is deep and muted. How about one of your white tops? But that might feel too much like a uniform, despite the skirt's incredibly interesting shape? I just love grey and white together so much that it's an easy thought for me. Oh - wait -- also ink or navy!!

Wow!  What a stunning outfit.  Just gorgeous.  Love the gray with black.
Congratulations on your healthy changes and positive results.

You hit it out of the ball park with this outfit. I could see the skirt with some shade of white or a sophisticated color like a greyed citron or navy or taupe.

Looks terrific --- lovely drape and structure.  Joy's ideas on color are worth pursuing, for sure.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Suz, you are absolutely correct about the red.  Nice in theory right:)  White is good so will have to see if I have anything with the right proportions. And I popped out this afternoon, as my boys are off doing something together, and came home with an ink silky tee shirt!!  Might work.  ETA:  Tried the ink top and it looks pretty good ;)

Joy, citron would be stunning but I am not sure it's a colour I can wear.  May have to experiment.

Fabulous avant garde look.  Is that a pocket draped low on the front of the skirt?  Wow.

Beautiful skirt! The drape is FAB!

I always enjoy your outfits because you have really honed in on your style...very inspiring. :)

Gorgeous Deborah. I had a pair of Kondo Tricot pants that I loved. They were indestructible, sadly I grew out of them.

Love that skirt! That bee necklace is the perfect detail. I love how your stye is always consistent but never boring.

Thanks for posting the 80's memorabilia and congrats on the weight loss.

Wowwwww!!! That's an absolutely gorgeous skirt, and looking fab in this outfit! Would like to see it with the same top, in white, is it avaiable?:-). BTW, how does the skirt keep it's shape, pleats and drapings, during the day...is it really a crease free fabric?

    Stunning skirt Deborah!

Joining the love for this outfit - it's stunning! Love the skirt and the way it pairs with the voluminous top too!

Now I have that song stuck in my head... "ahhh ahh...hear the notes from a distant song... and we fade to grey." That's all I remember

What can I say? Just a cool lady with a cool wardrobe. that skirt is to die for.

One of the most amazing outfits I've seen you post!   Congrats on the wellness plan and feeling so good.

You look amazing, Deborah! I am lusting over that style of sandal for next summer. I loved them last summer and am pretty sure I'd like to put some (lower heeled version) on my wishlist this year. Love it all from the top, the skirt, to the pendant. Congrats on the healthy eating as well. It's nice when it all comes together ;)

  • ElleH replied 9 years ago

LOVE the skirt! Love the outfit too! Good for you taking care of yourself. It isn't always easy to do.

  • rae replied 9 years ago

I just adore ALL of this, from head to toe! Amazing little bee. And you make me want to wear my sandal boots right away, even though I want to save them for summer.
