WIW: Essentials

Hi Fabbers:)

Angie recently helped me understand what the essentials are in my closet. I know much has been written but I'm a pictures gal and don't always fully read everything :(.

So, without realising it, I have been adding essentials to my wardrobe over the last little while. These are items that if I didn't have, the sky would fall down ;). They are the foundation of my outfits. Some of them are "similar but different" to one another and I love them all equally.

The dress here is new. I ordered it from Boohoo and for an inexpensive garment I am pretty happy with it. Nicely made, fabric skims my body and I love the drape.

Worn with leggings, ankle boots and a drape long tail cardigan from Portmans. I did add a black with white trench for my commute but forgot to get a pic.

The tote is also a new and was my birthday gift from my sister.

Thanks for looking. It's a simple look, but one I could actually wear very day:)

xxxDeborah

You've really zoomed in on your look!

Deborah - love this.  The dress is absolutely perfect.  Leggings, booties, tunic dresses are wardrobe essentials for me too, I just swap out the cardi with long blazers (when I can find them!!)  Otherwise, we could be twins. This is what I was trying to explain to Anna and Angie - I think the topper needs to be pretty close in length to the dress/tunic hem to really look it's best.  Just perfect.  I can steal the whole thing!!    Fab tote!!  Love the design and perfect size.

You manage find items with the most perfect drape everywhere! Or is it that everything just drapes perfectly on you? Love the birthday tote on you too!

Gorgeous!  I love all the drapeyness.

    Looks great! So very *you*.

I'm a little curious how the trench would sit over the tails over the cardigan. Do they hang below the hem of the trench?

This outfit is so fabulously put together. Your expertise with black outfits is always amazing to me.

And essentials 'don't count' in the budget/ wardrobe numbers either, and are so important to the finished outfit I think.
This looks perfect for everyday too- comfort with style :)

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Hahaha, I want to chime in with Lyn D on that. Essentials are essential so they do not "count" as purchases.  :)

You look perfectly comfortable in this. I really like it with the long cardigan especially -- it adds some extra texture and movement to the look!

This is such a perfect Deborah outfit! Fabulous drape, interesting layering, plenty of black, and boots. That dress looks like you'd be able to pop all kinds of fun toppers over it.

I love how many wonderful details this has, all being black. So awesome! You look so beautiful in this!

  • pil replied 9 years ago

You certainly pick the right pieces and details to give interest to a monochromatic look. So nice!

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

Beautiful and streamlined, I love the lines of the outfit with the topper, lots of movement. That birthday bag is sharp, the embossed detail makes it so unique.

  • Ariadne replied 9 years ago

So, so gorgeous!  That tote is fantastic.  Did your sister pick it out or did you?

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Diane, the tips of the cardigan may have shown a little but on movement it really wasnt noticeable;)

Ariadne, my sister chose it without knowing that I had been looking at it online:)

Lyn and Suz you are both so naughty! I think most of wardrobe is essentials...I like your thinking.

Thanks for your comments:). I love the dress so much I wore it again today. But with a similar topper and lace up black leather shoes.

  • Debra replied 9 years ago

As if you need to ask :) I have 2..... Black and cobblestone and I love them both :) I know...I have a problem.....

  • Debra replied 9 years ago

Lace up shoes sound great :)

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Debra, the only problem you have is excellent taste:). The Gene Tank Dress in black arrived today ...cannot wait to wear it:).

  • Debra replied 9 years ago
