WIW : Dress over Pants

Hi Ladies,

Trying to get back into a routine of taking photos:).

Dress over pants is probably one of my FFBO. I have been wearing dresses over pants since the 90's lol.

Dress : Motto

Pants : Katie's

Sandals : Kmart

Had a browse around the shops today and it seems suede is one of the key fabrics of our impending Autumn / Winter. Has that been the case in other parts of the world?

Thanks for looking. Comments, suggestions all much appreciated.

xxxDeborah

The soft colors of the dress and cold shoulders look terrific. I have seen tons of suede lately too.

Thanks Shevia! I love suede and have my eye on a navy suede motto style jacket;)

Looks great Deborah. I love dress over pants. Were you hot? I am baking today. I have noticed the suede thing too. And I saw that motto has a lovely long black (light weight?) Coat with mock suede lapels. Do you know the one I mean? Looks nice...

    That's the best dress!

    Gorgeous!
I love suede. Not sure how it will pan out in the Brisbane climate though!

Though thinking about it, I wore my khaki suede jacket quite a bit   in the three weeks of "winter" we had last year, as it was not as warm as a wool coat...

Thanks Brooklyn! And yes tried that jacket on Monday and had to restrain myself from making an immediate purchase lol. It's lovely. It is light weight. It's a fashion piece. It's not for any warmth:)

    Thanks Rachy:)

Lucy, it's definitely too hot here now so I can't imagine people "feeling" like buying suede at the moment !

Deborah - gorgeous. That shade of gray is absolutely stunning on you. Great silhouette. Hair looking particularly fabulous today. I love suede as I prefer texture to color. A suede jacket would be marvelous. Can't wait to see what you get!! PS can you send me some of your heat? ;-). I'll trade!!

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Oh Gryffin I would so happily send you some heat:). I'm totally over it. I want my leggings, jackets and boots lol x

That's a beautiful pattern in the dress. Righto, off to check the motto website.

    Lovely Deborah...

I've seen some suede here, but I'm just too prone to getting food or drink on my clothes to buy the real thing...faux, however, is not a problem.

What a great look! The dress looks perfect over the pants. I like the cold shoulder detail and the way it narrows at the hem providing a nice bit of structure.

I think this is my favorite outfit you've ever done. Absolutely gorgeous.

I love the dress-over-pants thing when it's well done. Like right here. Beautiful!

    Great outfit.

    Killer

  • Peri replied 8 years ago

Beautiful! It doesn't really look dress over pants to me, it looks like fabulous tunic supposed to be worn with pants...like you know better than the store, which comes as no surprise!

Please do get back in the habit of posting pictures...I never get enough of yours!

FAB!  I've done this with my Gudren Sjoden dress which is a similar shape. :)

Lovely light colour with the black Deborah!
Now, were is this navy suede jacket you spoke of? :)

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Helen, thank you.  Enjoy browsing the site.

Cheryl, a lot of what I am seeing is faux but I am noting that its all dry clean only :(

Diane, thank you.  I love how you always pick up on the design details, you have such a good eye.

    torontogirl, thank you xx

Viva, thank you.  It's a look I think I will love always.

    shedev, thank you.

    Angie, thank you.

Peri, thanks so much.  Such a lovely encouragement to remember to take photos.

Linder51 thank you!  I love playing with proportions.

AG, yes I could see your outfit would be fab.

Lyn, thank you!  Jacket is expected in store next week.  Hoping I may get a surprise and find it's arrived today.  Suede pants are in.  Black, Navy and Tan and they are very nice.

This is a great way to wear the dress. Remind me how tall you are. This is very inspiring.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

    Thank you Joy.  I am 5ft2 :)

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

That's what I thought. Thank you. You nail the proportions. I can't use being 5'3" as an excuse.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Lol, Joy, Im actually a tad shorter than 5ft 2 but easier to round it up.  For an outfit like this, the length of the dress has to be on or just above the knee for it to work on me :)
