WIW: Cropped Pants & Layers

I loved Angie's post on cropped pants:). Mine are not as cropped but for some reason this is the length that I like on me:). Still gives me a variety of shoe choices.

Wearing cropped pants, long asymmetric tunic and shorter Waterfall jacket. The flats have been de-orphaned after purchasing them at a YLF meet up and not wearing them;).

Master 13 snapped this on my phone before church this morning.

Bonus shot of Ninja who has now been with us for about 5 weeks. I am so surprised at how much I adore her. She is a lovely companion, and much more social and affectionate than I expected from a cat.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

xxxDeborah

Deborah, I'd been admiring your YLF blog for some time, long before I joined this forum a few days ago. You have a wonderful style - effortless, elegant and avant-garde. Your combination of geometric and flowing lines looks so natural on you. This outfit is no exception, and the bright blue necklace is amazing on all black!
The kitty is also an exotic beauty :)

  • Sally replied 7 years ago

Another amazing all black outfit aND the cobalt necklace is stunning against it.

  • Cococat replied 7 years ago

I love this outfit Deborah. The blue necklace is a perfect contrast with the black. I have been on the lookout for some cropped pants and found a pair at Target this morning on the way home from hula class. I'm looking forward to trying them out with an Aline dress.

Your Ninja looks like such a cutie and very much like our Coco. She is the most affectionate and responsive kitty we have ever had. I wonder if it's a quality of torties...

Oooh - I like these proportions . New and different . Great neck piece too ! And hi to Ninja - such pretty colouring . Cats are surprisingly personal and affectionate in their one bossy and controlling way :)

  • rachylou replied 7 years ago

Love, because you have the apron effect going on :)

    Ninja is awww!

  • Ledonna N. replied 7 years ago

    Perfection! Hmmmmmm

Cat pictures. We had a cat like this named fluffy. Cats are very independent and interdependent. I love them

  • Deb replied 7 years ago

There was a post recently asking about sophistication.....you Deborah are the epitome of sophistication!

  • Brooklyn replied 7 years ago

Lovely! The proportions work really well. Where is the tunic from? And Ninja is soooo cute.

  • Deborah replied 7 years ago

Olen, thank you, you are so kind:)

    Thanks Sally xx

Coco, our cats could be siblings!! So adorable. Looking forward to seeing your new pants x

Thanks Lisa. I was pleased with the proportions too. I need a change from skinny legs x

Rachy, the apron effect...I like it x

    Thanks Ledonna:)

Deb I used to dream of being a sophisticated 'lady' when I was a little girl:). Thank you that's such a lovely compliment.

Brooklyn, thank you. Tunic is Metalicus from last summer :)

Ninja is a CUTIE. I hope that she and Dexter are best mates.

I love the blue necklace with this outfit. Personally, I'd like to see your pants hacked a little shorter, Debs. Fun shoes too.

  • Deborah replied 7 years ago

Lol Angie I know :) but I actually love this length. Maybe more of an ankle pant than a crop ???

Dexie and Ninja are still getting to know each other but we are getting there. We supervise their time together. Ninja is very curious about Dex and Dex is quite indifferent to Ninj lol. But I can see them becoming great fur friends x

    So chic!

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

Debs, ankle pants are crops! To my eye, FWIW, they'd look deliberate a little shorter. An inch or inch and a half shorter.

Dexter needs to share her limelight with Ninja, which she didn't anticipate. I'm sure there is plenty of love to go round.

  • Lyn D. replied 7 years ago

I expected boots with your pant in this cool weather!
Great that these shoes have come out to play, and I am sure they will be in rotation after Winter too.
Cats are extra nice in cold weather when they want to snuggle on your lap more often.

  • Elizabeth P replied 7 years ago

Love the asymmetry you have going on here Deborah.  I agree with Angie, that a smidge shorter would look more deliberate.

    Ninja is adorable :)

  • Deborah replied 7 years ago

I think the shorter crop looks deliberate because that look is very on trend right now. There was a time when the cropped pant was not in favour:). I personally don't like shorter cropped pants. They look great on others but I don't like them on me:(. I have always loved more of an ankle length pant. Somehow it seems more reflective of my style preferences. Here's a pic so you can see the actual length of my pants - I wonder if my photo angle is making them look a tad longer than they are? And a couple of pics that I love for inspiration.

Thanks for the conversation ladies. I really enjoy the differing thoughts and opinions and find it challenging and thought provoking. xxx

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

They DO look longer in the outfit pic. Thanks, Debs. That makes things a lot clearer. You look clear of 2 inches above your ankle bone. Sorted.

  • Deborah replied 7 years ago

Thanks for your input Angie, I appreciate it very much:).

And we are making sure Dex gets some extra living so as not to feel left out particular given Kitty is an indoor cat and has the run of the house:)

  • Bonnie replied 7 years ago

You look amazing in this photo - I want your whole outfit.

  • pil replied 7 years ago

Gorgeous, Deborah! And Ninja is pretty adorable - I take M13 named her?

  • Deborah replied 7 years ago

Lol no pil I named her!!

  • Tanya replied 7 years ago

Great look, and I loce the bright blue necklace.  Ninja is absolutely adorable.

  • jill58 replied 7 years ago

Venus would like a play date with Ninja and Coco. I love the asymmetric tunic with the shorter jacket. The cobalt necklace is perfect.

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

I love the necklace with this. The whole thing works beautifully. As will Dexter and Ninja eventually. Cats are funny creatures aren't they?

  • Lucy replied 7 years ago

Gorgeous! The necklace really tops it all off. You look great.

  • Deborah replied 7 years ago

Jill58 oh my your kitty is beautiful xxx.

  • Sal replied 7 years ago

Lovely, I agree this is elegant.

I think the trousers work, totally, but don't ask me why.  I think it is the proportions at the top and the flash of ankle (oo lala!)

  • lyn67 replied 7 years ago

Not an expert at all, and I always loved this (longer) length on slim crops, but think the flared ones can go even a little shorter(?). Wow, a gorgeous outfit again, love the blues in the necklace to it, and Ninja is a real cutie:-).

  • Elizabeth P replied 7 years ago

For the record, I'm another person who doesn't like my crops too cropped :)  I do think my initial reaction was more to do with the angle than the reality, your second pic does look more like what I was thinking.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 7 years ago

Oh good grief woman...you are killing it with this outfit! I love everything about this outfit.

Dusty Bottom sends his best to Ninja :)
