WIW Casual Monday

Hi Ladies,

Nothing super exciting but I wore this yesterday to a friends home where I spent the afternoon going through and organizing her wardrobe.

We bagged up a lot of things to be donated and she was left with a closet with only wearable items all organized and easy to access. It was heaps of fun and I found myself sharing so many things I have learnt here at YLF.

My friend is a SAH mum and her wardrobe is made up entirely of thrifted clothing. Just goes to show what is possible:)

We were so busy I forgot to take photos but she now has some fab new combinations to wear and learnt how to modernize some older pieces... so much fun:). She even tried some subtle pattern mixing for the very first time!!

Thanks for Letting me share and thanks for looking.

xxx

Deborah

ps: please excuse my funny left eye. My cold has finally cleared up and now I have a mild eye infection!! Gotta love winter:)

Fabulous casual look Deborah - it's like "easy chic". And how nice of you to share your YLF knowledge with your friend. Sounds like a productive and fun time!

Have you gotten rid of your virus yet?

I really like this look on you.

As for the eye, totally been there! My doc recommended putting undiluted baby shampoo on a warm, wet washcloth and swiping my eye from inner-to-outer, never using the same section of washcloth. I did this several times a day and it seemed to help without needing a prescription.

What a great MOTG outfit! I love the stripes peeking out around your sweater and your skinnies with boots. Perfect!
Hope your eye feels better soon.

You look fantastic, as always. Your friend is lucky to have such a stylish and willing resource!

That sounds like such a fun day!! I'm sure you were so helpful to her, and now she can see her closet in a new way!

This is a very stylish outfit to my eye. I love the short sleeves layered over the long striped ones. In the resort collections that just showed, there was a lot of layering like this and it looked very chic, so you are quite ahead of the curve, trend-wise :).

You've done it again - worn something oversized and still looked chic. Wish I could. Sigh.

Bravo for helping your friend and hope your eye gets better!

What a fun day! You look great, as always! I especially love the striped top layered under the short-sleeve gray one. And your boots!! Love!

Made it a favorite -- of course, I won't try it until we, I don't know, have a day we can't fry an egg on the sidewalk, lol!

Love the ease of this --- the softness of the gray with the graphic stripe. The boxiness of the sweater, without too much volume. Very chic!

Love this!! Glad you at getting better and hope the eye clears up quickly too. Honestly, a part of my brain was thinking "but what have you learned here"? Seems like you had a finely honed sense so style right from the beginning.

You are such a good friend! I shudder at the thought of going through a closet. Too much pressure! I love your outfit. It's perfect. The striped top, the sweater and the boots. I totally want to copy this come fall!

Love the look - you look great in this ensemble! A really effortless and fab look.
    Hope you get better soon!

Deborah, I love the layering over the stripe top, and don't we need it at the moment?
You ARE a good friend: I know how fun but tricky it can be to help with a wardrobe purge, especially with thrifted items because there can be a HEAP of so-so stuff due to the cost factor! I am sure you were very tactful even when your first thought was 'get rid of this atrocity right NOW!' :)
    Have a great day.

Is that pattern mixing going on between the striped long sleeves and the striped cowl neck? It works! You are so clever. You kept it minimal by keeping the colors to a minimum, which I like. It's true as Jonesy says there is some really interesting layering going on in the Resort 2013 collections with vests, jackets, dresses, etc. It's going to be fun!

Great look Deborah, makes me miss my own boots :-)
I really love the layering and the collar on the striped top - that makes the whole look much more fun.

It's great you could help your friend with learning from YLF.

I love the colour pallete of charcoal, black and white with the denim and you layer things so well. Chic and comfortable! what more could a girl want? Well done on helping your friend she must be thrilled with the results. Hope your eye gets better soon.

Thanks Shannon, I'm on the mend. It's been one thing after the other lately which is frustrating cos I'm always very healthy and don't often get sick;)

Anne thank you and thank you for the advice. I'm using antibiotic drops from the pharmacy and am seeing an improvement.

Parsley and Jenava, thanks so much for looking.. and liking:)

Jonesy, I will have to look on line but it's kind of cool to be ahead of the trend though certainly not by design:)

Laura, I'm sure this look would work for you. I'm short a d not skinny so I find I have to make sure my boxy or oversized tops are not too big otherwise the proportions seem off.

    Jamie, thank you:)

Beth Ann I am sure the colder months will be upon you before you know it, and I can see you working a layered look beautifully.

Scarlet thank you, that is such a nice thing to say, but seriously I really have learnt so much here that has allowed me to fine tune and assess things with fresh eyes.

KG I love doing wardrobes for people...it's a challenge! And it's awesome to see when a woman realizes that their wardrobe is much more workable than they thought.

    Nanabear, welcome and thank you:)

Lyn, layering is so necessary this time of year. It has been raining Nere for almost 24 hours straight. And you know that's exactly what I wanted to say a couple of times lol

Denise you don't miss a thing! Yes there are varying stripes on the top. I'm keen to see take a look at the coming collections for some layering inspiration.

Ornella, I'm guessing it's warm where you are:). I would wear my boots all year round if I could:)

Diane, thank you. Grey is a color I have not worn much in the past but it has made a bit of an appearance this year:)

Ladies you are all so encouraging, thank you xxx
