WIW: Blue Boots

Hi Ladies,

As per my earlier post today, I couldn't wait to wear my new ankle boots.

I wore them to work today:)

The navy skinny ponte pants have been orphaned in my closet so it was fun to get them out today. I rolled them a little, so more of the boot could be seen. I think that looked ok.  I may actually shorten the pants now to suit the boot as I am not a huge fan of the roll.

I then added a soft layered blouse in black, a textured sleeveless vest/jacket and a navy scarf to tie the top and bottom of the outfit together.

I realised today that while I love a high contrast between my clothing and my hair/skin, I actually have a low tolerance for high contrast when mixing my clothing items.. yes I am a bit slow lol.  I understood today that the reason my navy pants have not worked for me before is because my footwear was too high contrast, even black boots never looked quite right to me.

I may even start to wear my blue denim skinny jeans again;)

Over to you.  What do you think.  Were the boots a good addition to my wardrobe?  Is this outfit worth repeating?

Thanks for looking
xxx Deborah

This totally works Deb! Definitely worth repeating. I like the footwear extending your legline toning with your trousers and then the blue scarf bookending that.

Love the outfit. Those boots look so great with the pants! Love the scarf as well. I agree with you - shorten the pants. The rolls at the hem look a tad bulky for your sleek outfit. Love this shade of blue on you, Deb!

Wow, totally works! Great ankle boots, they are brogues and patent, OMG!  You say it so well:
"I realised today that while I love a high contrast between my clothing and my hair/skin(...). I understood today that the reason my navy pants have not worked for me before is because my footwear was too high contrast, even black boots never looked quite right to me".
This is why I wear mostly dark colors on my top part-even in summer-and this is why I don't often do colored bottoms, as all. Other than in summer when bear it if showing some leg  skin--   I am very picky about a big contrast footwear----- I love to have long legs instead:-).

ETA: that textured long cardi-jacket is heaven on earth. I want it, too:-).

ETAnr 2. I see it is a vest only?????? Oh, I want it even better!!!!:-)

The scarf is such a great color on you - and the shoes compliment it perfectly. Hem the pants and you will be impeccable.

Beautiful -- and absolutely worth repeating. I love the blues on you -- extremely flattering, and sophisticated with the blacks. I like the idea of hemming the pants, too.

Very interesting insight about contrast levels. And it makes total sense to me for your style.

I think I am a little bit this way, also...I do wear some higher contrast outfits, but tend to prefer the contrast on the bottom if I am doing this. I.e. I will wear my black and white striped tube skirt happily -- but I would be hugely uncomfortable in a top with that type of contrast. I will, however, wear a cream top with a black jacket (for example) -- but only if the rest of the outfit is fairly neutral....hmmmm....you have got me thinking....this is useful. Thanks!

Great mix of color, The boots really bring that outfit together.

I really really love this! The boots are fab and a great addition.

    Enthusiastic clapping -

those boots are all kinds of fab, and I love the outfit.

What do I think? WHAT DO I THINK??? I think you look positively SMASHING! Oh my goodness - black and blue on you is delicious :) And the boots are beyond gorgeous on you.

  • shedev replied 8 years ago

Killer outfit. I feel the same way about high contrast outfits.

  • Sara L. replied 8 years ago

Great boots!  I love that blue scarf as well.

  • Susie replied 8 years ago

WOW, great boots! I love this outfit. The color mix is sophisticated and the cobalt scarf is just gorgeous on you.

Show stopping look! Love those booties and totally understand about being contrast averse in some outfits. I am not sure of what variables make me happy with an ultra high contrast between top and bottom; worth figuring out as I often avoid it, yet occasionally like it.

I think your fashion genius is that you always look comfortable, yet uber polished.

    LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.

    Killer. The blue is brilliant.

Gorgeous Deb - love the boots. I'd prefer the blue boots against black pants or denim though, having the bright blue bookending the whole look (scarf and boots) rather than being half of the total . Just the way my eye sees the whole look.  Love the individual pieces - you have quite the wardrobe .

Full disclosure - I have these same boots from Zara (mine are plain though, not a brogue). I didn't wear them a ton last fall as I didn't  find them terribly comfortable (you get what you pay for ) but did like the look of them with jeans or black pants.

Luuurvvveee this! Wow. You are stunning, Deborah! Adore the blue in this. Sheesh, does your fabness have no limits or what?

  • molly221 replied 8 years ago

Stunning outfit. I have blue suede ankle boots that I hardly ever wear. Maybe I will try the blue and black combo. Thanks!!

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Oooh very nice Deborah! I am enjoying your increased bits of navy in your outfits, and can definitely see how these boots would be easier for you integrate over the cobalt. This more muted combo feels richer, somehow.

  • Dee replied 8 years ago

I love seeing how you're working color into your wardrobe but still keeping to your core style! The boots are a lot of fun and work really well with the pants.

  • dashielle (Ann) replied 8 years ago

    This! This is just...

  • catgirl replied 8 years ago

    SPEECHLESS.

I love the blue and black combo - have been working toward this myself.  Very inspiring.  The vest is beyond fab.

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 8 years ago

Those boots are a fantastic addition. How astute of you to recognize about the contrast issue and that perhaps indeed, you've gained a solution. Waiting to see you in blue jeans, lol

  • celia replied 8 years ago

I love the outfit and I love the new boots.

  • pil replied 8 years ago

    Absolutely gorgeous.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Ladies thank you all so much.  I am so pleased my friend "encouraged' me to buy these boots.  We were browsing Zara and I was purposely not looking at shoes as I have enough lol.  But she brought them over and insisted lol.  Then she carried them around the shop until we had finished looking and there was no way I was getting out with out trying them.  She is a master enabler and I love her:)

  • anne replied 8 years ago

I don't think I replied to this earlier. Love the boots and the outfit. Navy boots make my heart skip a beat too, and I've only seen them at David Jones for exorbitant amounts!

  • AviaMariah replied 8 years ago

This outfit took my breath away. The blue is beautiful! I also like your analysis about high contrast.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 8 years ago

If that's what it took to wear those gorgeous blue pants, then by all means, the boots are worth it! What a fabulous outfit.
And the boots are  absolutely a great style for you, Deborah, in any case. I love their modern sleek look, with that unexpected bit of pretty, menswear inspired brogue detail. (Menswear does have its pretty elements, doesn't it?)

  • Lisa replied 8 years ago

How fun is this outfit!  *squealing*  I really like how the blue, extends the leg line because it pairs so well with the pants.

  • SarahTheWhite replied 8 years ago

Oh goodness! I think this is one of my favorite outfits of yours of all time! Gorgeous. You are beautiful in blue, but it still has that look that is completely congruent with your style. Wow.

  • Colette replied 8 years ago

YES! Stunning and perfect in every way! Love the boots, great purchase.
