WIW: Blogger Inspiration

Hi Ladies,

As much as I love looking at fashion blogs, few inspire me to copy outfits But this week Beverly from Beverly like Hills posted an outfit, that minus the camo cons, had my name written all over it.

Worn to church this morning, and possibly getting another run for the office tomorrow.

The exciting thing is I had all these pieces in my closet.

Sleeveless textured drape jacket - New bought over the summer
3/4 sleeve top - Cotton On (bought recently for layering)
Faux leather skirt - suzanne grae (you have seen before)
Oxfords - Rivers (Mothers Day gift 2012)

Here's Beverly's post:

Thanks for looking.

How is the footwear? Too stumpifying? Mind you these shoes are SO comfortable I don't really mind if i look short (er) lol.

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

xxx Deborah

What a gorgeous outfit on you! I love those oxfords and how you've picked up their white with the necklace and watch. Perfection! That textured jacket is a lovely find.

Fantastic! I love the "sleeveless jacket" trend, although not everyone agrees.

However I am confused as to why the sleeveless jacket is not being called a "vest" or "waistcoat" -- what am I missing? Is the sleeveless jacket not to be layered? Or is it only a sleeveless jacket if your arms are completely bare (layering a tank would be ok).

Denise, I read that post and even commented that I thought they were great! Lol.

Good point! I never know what to call them. My sleeveless trench is exactly that, but a topper like this one has me confused. Perhaps we need a tutorial from Ms Cox? :)

that topper is divine! And I love the black and black with all the fun texture you have going. You are so true to your style! I struggled with shoes to wear with pencil skirts so much that I just gave up wearing them. So I am no help there.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

So Jayne does thT mean you mainly wear boots or booties with pencil skirts?

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Deborah, you look smashing! You have brought your own polished eclectic vibe to this outfit and made it your very own. I do not think the oxfords are too stumpifying -- it looks fresh on you. And I love the textured topper and the necklace. Wow!

I think maybe Jayne gave up on pencil skirts when she couldn't figure out the footwear.

I think it looks great. The oxfords are wonderful!

Deborah, I love Beverly's style and use her for inspiration too. I love your version of her outfit!

Deborah, I think in our Australian climate, sleeveless layers make a LOT of sense! We have such mild weather, that sometimes that's the only layer we need.

You look amazing! I'm quite new here, but I always admire the way you dress. So sophisticated, but you always look comfortable too!

Perfection! Your copy outfit is way better than the original! I love how the necklace and white on the oxfords talk to each other. Amazing sleeveless jacket. The clutch and leather skirt also goes so well together.

I love your version, Deborah. I think the shoes work well.

Love the oxfords. This outfit is gorgeous on you. I love the unexpected footwear with this polished ensemble. Effortlessly elegant!

Oh, I love that sleeveless/waistcoat-coat! Great outfit, erfect for the day and still very arty and fashio forward to my eyes!

First of all, your outfit is great Deborah, I like it even better than the original!

Denise, I have a big crush on these new sleeveless jackets and am considering getting one or even two for this summer.  To me they look just like vests/waistcoats with lapels (vests usually do not have them).  Since I like layered looks and it is very hot here, to em they are perfect answer for the summer, I especially like the look of them layered over sleeveless tops too.

    Good Morning Deborah!
(How Fab is the new look YLF?)
I have also been inspired by this Blogger too!
I am going to copy her February outfit in the near future.
Love what you have put together here! May I ask where the topper came from? Is it a new feature that I was able to zoom-in to see the details of your outfit, or have I missed it before?
I like the use of the oxfords to make this a less dressy outfit, still can't get the converse type shoe with skirts or blouses looking intentionally 'right' when I try it. Not stumpifying at all.

I love this outfit!  All the black, different textures, and the hint of white.  Perfect!

Lyn, the first thing I did this morning was reach for my ipad to check out the new YLF:) The sleeveless jacket was bought at a store here in Bendigo that has a lot of more arty type things and drapey garments that I love. I bought it for (I think) $20.00 (some of her items are samples and I think she had another one when I was there the other day. If you are interested let me know and I can go check out size and price for you. If you want more detailed photos of the texture etc just let me know. Or you could come visit and I will take you shopping :)

    What a kind offer!
Deborah, I am  really trying to S.Y.C. until June (with not much success)
I will just admire you in the jacket for the time being, knowing that it isn't on my Winter shopping list.
As for a shopping trip in your home town- I would love to discuss that offer in the near future ! :)

Stunning outfit Deborah! You look amazingly put together and so true to your own style. I too think your take is actually better than the original! I love how we can be influenced by other "normal" people and not necessarily just what we see on celebs and high fashion folk!
  • Deborah replied 11 years ago
Lyn any time:)  And I would love to host you in Bendigo:)

Hil, I am actually more inspired by real people than celebs.  In fact Beverly's outfits resonate so much with me that Im thinking I will just copy her outfits daily... lol

Oh this works perfectly Deb - it is polished, arty, edgy and classic all rolled into one. Love the sleeveless topper and the shoes are the perfect finishing touch.

Adorable :). No stumpies on my screen!

Gilets, sleeveless jackets, waistcoats, vests, bodywarmers - however we wish to call them - are extremely practical items in hot weather and tropical climates.

Debs, we've been treated a few times to your gorgeous icy blue eyes with close-ups. Those shiny marbles brighten up the black. So fab :)
