WIW : As close to Boho as I go!

Hi Ladies,

A day off today and I enjoyed a lovely lunch with a dear friend.

I had considered purging this kimono-esque jacket.  For Aussie girls, it's from Millers, cost me a whole $8.00 and quality is 'ok', but I really like it:)
There is something about the Kimono looks that says Boho to me but I don't think I have a boho bone in my body lol.

Popped it on over skinny black pants and a draped sleeveless top and was ready to go.  Added silver hoop earrings, silver rings and a black and silver two strand long necklace.

I was inspired by the pic in #3, but her jacket is oh so much nicer :)

Jacket : Millers
Pants : Katies
Top : Katies
Shoes : Rubi

Thanks for looking.  Any suggestions, thought for improvement.  Is the jacket ok or should it infact go??

xxx Deborah

I like it!!  I vote keep it - wear it occasionally when the fancy takes you.

I have a kimono jacket I love, and I like wearing it in a similar way to yourself, nice and simple.

It sure does not look like a Katies/Millers outfit - it looks much more upmarket.

This looks wonderful on you and not too boho at all. It is fun to go outside the norm sometimes.

With the sleek column of color, the look is more arty than boho. I likey! :)

This is a wonderful look.  I had a laugh at the boho tag, this is way too polished to be called boho.  How clever of you to find this jacket in Millers. I think in summer it would look great with a column of white (and maybe would look a bit more boho too)!

I purged my kimono jacket which I got from Zara, it never stayed on my un-square shoulders.  It's a flattering piece on you, and if you're not having to fuss with it like I was, why not hang on to it.

I also think it is more arty than boho and the black and white motif and draping fits in with your style. It's pretty. I would keep it :)

Thanks ladies! I will hang onto it;). Glad it doesn't read boho as that's really not me lol. I will happily accept "arty" tho xx

Nice! It can be good, I think, to have something a bit different for those times when you feel like it, even if it is just a couple of times a year.

I don't see boho and think it is a nice jacket and a change for you.  Unless space is a serious issue, why not keep it and wear it when the mood strikes.

I love it on you. Keep!

Not boho, and looks terrific. Great inspiration picture too!

I like it! Agree with others on 'arty'. The neckline is lovely on you--I prefer it worn slightly open to create a bit of column and side drape as in pic 2 and the inspiration photo. Speaking if the inspiration pic, I want her bag!! ;)

    I love this!

Hi. I think that because the kimono is black and white, and the cut is austere and minimal, it doesn't come off to me as "boho" which I think of as sort of flowy and involving lots of loose details. I think it suits your style very well.

I also see arty, and also dramatic -- so, to me, it fits with your style. I love it on you!

    I also vote "keep."

I agree that it looks more arty than boho. Keep!!!

Another vote for keep, especially for your summer as a light weight topper. It doesn't look boho on you.

Super cute. I love the kimono top on you, Debs. Fab pattern. Keep.

This is a fun look..$8.00, wow! Looks much more expensive and great interpretation from your inspiration!

Haha, Deb. Touching Boho with a ten foot pole. Looks fab!!

  • kerlyn replied 8 years ago

I agree with the others...looks more arty and dramatic than it does boho.    Really lovely on you!

Another vote for "it's more arty than boho". I like it a lot! How fun to see you breaking a bit from your black and solids these days :)

I don't see boho here at all, and it's a great replica of your inspiration photo.  That said, I have to admit I prefer the longer length in the inspo pic - it just seems to give it a more modern feel and leaner look  that I totally see you in .  That's just a thought, not a criticism at all.  You have a really pretty piece , and even if you wear it only once in a while,  it's probably worth keeping !
