WIW: ALGO...for me :)

Hi Ladies,

Hope those of you who had a long weekend had a good one:).

I am very pants oriented at the moment so decided I shouldn't let my skirts languish and decided to have a skirt day. I feel this is a lot going on for me ...colour, stripes lol. It's not so cold today so the jacket did come off at the office. The blouse is all black with the front being black and white striped. It is also a high low cut.

I don't mind the outfit but I'm not sure I love it!

And, I am making myself accountable to you... These are my last bootie purchase for the year!!

Suggestions, etc always valued:).

xxxDeborah

Ps: today was one of those days when tempted to "chop of my head"! The camera certainly knows how to enhance how tired one looks:(

I like the outfit, and the booties, but I don't care for the skirt with the booties. It looks like a leather skirt and patent leather booties. They are just similar enough to not be enough of a contrast, yet not similar enough to look the same.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Good point Khris, thank you.    I try not to wear matte leather shoes with this skirt and I had hoped the patent was enough of contrast.  I wonder what would work better?

  • Raisin replied 10 years ago

No need to chop off your pretty head!

I actually like that the boots are similar to the skirt since it keeps it uniform and simple, and I like that wih the bold red jacket.

I love this - but I am Team Double Up on Leather!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Love the stripes with the leather and the jacket is a great pop of colour. LOVE the patent booties Deb - what brand are they?

I will be needing to replace my black Blowfish booties in the fall as they have finally died.

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

Love this to bits, birthday girl!
No issue for me on leather plus leather, in fact, I like it.
I hope you have a lovely day!

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Glad the boots are ok.  I remembered Angie (I think) saying at one stage that mixing leathers was a fresher look.

Shannon, the boots are Rivers.  Lyn D mentioned awhile back she is pretty sure that between the two of us we keep them in business:)  They are the Riversoft range and even though the heel is hight they are amazingly comfortable and the footbed well supported.

Lantana, thank you!  You are incredibly kind to remember.  I normally have Tuesdays off but am working full time at the moment.  Both my DH and DS have the day off and I am at work:(  It's not that bad:)

Oh Happy Birthday Deborah! I like the booties with the skirt, I love the red jacket on you, and I am wondering how it looks without the jacket. I do understand what you mean about feeling like ALGO but it does not look that way to me at all. And you look beautiful even if you are tired on the inside!

  • annaj replied 10 years ago

Personally, I think you look fab! But if you don't feel fab, I think you need to go shopping for a new birthday outfit! Perfect excuse!!

I wonder if your lack of love is to do with proportions - the jacket and skirt are the same length, so perhaps a shorter or longer jacket would do the trick too??

Happy Birthday Deborah! Not fair to be working, I hope the boys are cooking up a storm for tonight.

You look lovely in red. This all works really well imo. I like the skirt & booties.

  • carolbee replied 10 years ago

Happy birthday Deborah. It is very ALGO for you, but you do look fab, love the items making up this combo. When you've mentioned Rivers previously I went and had a look but couldn't find anything remotely interesting, I think I need you to shop with me! I suspect that with Rivers prices you actually don't need to count these in your bootie capsule LOL.

    Happy Birthday!

I like this look a lot -- and I'm a fan of the booties and skirt together. I think a soft georgette blouse would be lovely with it also!

  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago

You look great!  The red jacket looks good with the stripes and the leather skirt.  I really like your booties!

  • Archer replied 10 years ago

I think the boots work in patent as the whole outfit has a modern classic look, especially with them.  You usually show the bag.  My question is - is it a classic? Cheers A
And - happy birthday to you.  If your weather is anything like ours. it's a gorgeous day today. A

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Archer it is cool but sunny so a lovely day... but Im stuck in the office :(
Sorry I didn't decide on my bag until minutes before leaving,  Pic of it just for you :)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Well, I love it! I Those booties are seriously envy inducing. I remember this time last year I started to get all jealous of your every footwear purchase and obviously this year is no different! Sheesh!!! Grey. White. Black.....it is all too perfect for me to bear!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Happy birthday, Deborah! I suspect that the patent booties are better in real life with your leather skirt as photos tend to make leather look shiny. You might also try suede booties with the skirt.
The whole outfit of black, white and red feels true to your style.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Thanks Suz and Joy.  Joy yes I think IRL the combo works a little better:)
Suz, my footwear shopping is definitely over for the moment:)  I don't think there could possibly any more wardrobe holes to fill in that department lol

Happy birthday Deborah! This outfit looks great, not ALGO at all to me (but I have a higher ALGO tolerance). It looks very harmonious and love you in black and white and red, your signature color combo. I have a soft spot for patent leather boots too.

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU>>>> singing loudly to myself!!
I think this is a lovely outfit, and I bet if we could see the lower back of your top below the jacket from the side or rear we could appreciate it even more.
What a shame to have to work on your day-off/Special day- I hope you will be spoiled when you get home with a cooked meal/meal out and plenty of cake :)

  • ElleH replied 10 years ago

I love this! You are one hot mama! I say double up on the leather too. Red is one of my favourite colours to add to black or black & white.

  • Inge replied 10 years ago

I LOVE this so much, Deborah!! The shade of red, the cut of the jacket, this particular type of stripe... A very sleek and modern look, still quite minimalist I think;-) Oh and I do love the patent booties with the leather skirt, the patent adds a little more contrast than matte leather.

Wishing you a marvelous and beautiful birthday!!!

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

Happy, Happy Birthday :) I do hope you had a wonderful day and your work mates surprised you with cake !
I love your outfit, you always seem to get it together with your own special style and all of your outfits seem perfectly complete. Very inspiring :)

Happy Birthday! I hope you had a wonderful day. I love the black, white and red together

Happy birthday Deborah! I hope you have an excellent day! I love this outfit on you!

  • pil replied 10 years ago

Happy, happy birthday to you Deborah! I hope you had a wonderful day.

LOVE those booties and you do look lovely here. The combination of red and stripe is a bit of a change up for you but it sure works!

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Many Happy returns of the day, Deb! Great outfit, love everything here, esp the red jacket and gorgeous new patent booties:-))

  • replied 10 years ago

You look great Deb and no need to chop your head off 'cos you look stunning as always. I don't mind the boots with your skirt at all either, it's all good to me :)

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

Happy birthday!!! Love this outfit on you!.  So your style, and the bright pop of red looks so dramatic against the black and white.  Just perfect!

  • abc replied 10 years ago

Happy birthday!  Nice to see you in some color, though I do love your black, white and grey outfits.  I must add I absolutely love your hair.  I got a bad cut a while back so I am waiting for it to grow out so I can get it cut like yours, thanks for the inspiration and I hope it doesn't creep you out that I want to copycat your hair in addition to some of your fab outfits :)

  • replied 10 years ago

Looks really good to me. Happy birthday!

  • Mona replied 10 years ago

I actually really like the outfit! The combination of skirt leather with patent booties looks really modern and the jacket finishes everything off nicely.

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

Perhaps it is ALGO for you, but it doesn't read as ALGO in general. Sure there is the red jacket accent but over all neutral colors, and simple shapes.
The leathers don't look too much to me at all because you have softness and texture in the top and topper fabrics. I think you can wear these more structured and fitted items as well as your more flowy ones.

  • jurocha replied 10 years ago

Happy belated birthday! I love the red and black combo and, though, I am not a double up on leather team member as alaskagirl, the repeated material on the skirt and booties didn't call my attention/bothered me at all.

    You're aspirational, Deborah!
