WIW : A Zippy Skirt:)

Happy Monday everyone!

I came across a local designer recently on Instagram who has created what she calls a 'travel skirt'.  The idea being that if you are travelling for work, this is the only skirt you need to take and you build your outfits around it.  I thought it was a clever idea and I was keen to try it out.  It's always cool to see what local independent designers are doing.

The skirt has a zip running horizontally across the front of the skirt that is hidden by the folded waistband.  There are then number of 'panels' that can zip onto the skirt to create different looks, along with a pouch for travelling.

This was my first wearing, and I have worn it simply as a short straight skirt (no panel) over leggings to do some running around.  Thankfully it is cooling down here (finally) and I was able to wear a jacket too.

And look at me getting more and more daring everyday.  Another set of pics taken outdoors, in front of my garage door.  I worry the neighbors are going to think I'm mad taking photos of myself lol.

Thanks for looking.
xxx Deborah

Love the idea of a multifunctional skirt like you described it! It looks great like a simple pencil but outfit is still very you, with the slipons, moto jacket! Love  the addition of a striking monochromatic pattern on the infinity scarf and can't wait to see other rendition (especially panneled)of that amazing chammeleon skirt:-)

Thanks so much Lyn.  Next I am going to try styling it for going out, and also for a more corporate look my office. It's fun having fun with fashion :)

I love items like that. It's great to have a multifunctional piece in your wardrobe. I like how you have worn the skirt with leggings. Do they do online orders?

  • Deborah replied 7 years ago

Sally, yes they do.    Here's the website http://www.zippyskirts.com.au/

Great outfit, Deborah! I love the white on the footwear echoing the white of the scarf. And didn't you once say you were about as sporty luxe as...  (riffing on Angie's "boho as Karl Lagerfeld" comment).  ;)

A skirt like that sounds like fun to play with.

What a brilliant concept! Can't wait to see other iterations. And I love your look with the garage goor backdrop--a very artistic, fashion-shoot staging! YLF as always.

Cute - and kudos for having your insta photo  on their website!  You're starting to look like a regular urban blogger there with your industrial garage door backdrop ;)

Nice!  I'm curious now to other looks with your skirt.  It sounds fascinating.

You look terrific, Deborah.  Love the shorter skirt over leggings proportion on you.

Sounds like a really fun piece Deborah! Looking forward to seeing some of the other ways you wear the skirt. Definitely nice to be able to support local designers. Great look. I'm digging the white and black printed scarf with all the interesting black layers plus exposed ankles. And looove seeing you outside out in the wild :D

Looks really good, and you have a great garage door for pictures. I'm not sure I could work the other looks of the travel skirt such as changing it to a top. Does it give you different skirt lengths too?

What an interesting skirt! It looks great the way you've styled it here.

Love the outdoor shot and can't wait to see how else you can wear this skirt. Sounds like a fun item.

Suz, you are funny:)  This is as sporty lux as I get, tho I have been having quite the love affair with these sneaks.

Lisa, thanks, and I didn't know my pic was on the website.  I guess thats my 15 minutes :)

delurked, yes depending on if you fold the waist band or not and where you place it, on your hips or waist, you can adjust the length.

Thanks for looking.  I have some other ideas for styling so looking forward to playing with it more.
