WIW: 6 Hours Travel & Work Meeting

Hi Fabbers,

3 hours both way to attend a 2.5 hour meeting. Early departure and just got home, so a quick post and run but will be back after din re to catch up the day's YLF activities:)

I have been wanting to show you this long vest for ages. The very kind Archer sent it to me along with a gorgeous Paul Smith shirt:).

These pants have become part of my work meeting "uniform", sorry if you are sick of them;). The blouse is a fave but I don't wear it often and the shoes are vintage, square toe not pointy but I love the long toe. I don't often do volume on volume but I really enjoyed wearing this combo and I think the proportions work..if not please let me know:)

I am not being arty with my poses, I'm just exhausted and it shows in my face:). My ears are a bit better but still not back to normal.

Off to prepare dinner, back soon.

Thanks for looking and suggestions for improvement etc always appreciated.

xxxDeborah

That vest is a wearable sculpture! Just stunning and you carry it off beautifully. Obviously I like the proportions. :)

I love that look.  Black is a colour that you wear well.

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

OMG! This is an artsy+(!) outfit, vest is surely a statement, but I like the refined color and print of that  blouse, too! And, I love these shoes with these all, totally corelated! Faints! (with a neutral helmeth!:-))

This is sooooo gorgeous, I love everything about it. Very, very stylish :)

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

    Very unique and stunning Deborah!

WOW that vest is amazing. The drape and cut and flow of it actually shows in photos. You look great, hopefully on the mend.

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

This is adorable Deborah. What a beautiful vest and equally beautiful top. The warm tones make me want to see gold accessories with this but I don't think you are a gold girl, are you?
    Despite living in Bendigo. :)

    Great vest! Love this look.

  • peacechick replied 10 years ago

Amazing vest! I can just imagine you sweeping into a meeting and wowing everyone there.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

You don't look like you have been riding for hours. Stunning and dramatic come to mind first. I just love the blouse! And the vest! With those pants. And shoes.

  • JayS replied 10 years ago

Love your style! And the way you have styled that amazing vest. May I ask a personal question? You have a signature style..how did you go about developing it? A lot of thought? Trial and error? Born with it? Hope I'm not out of line asking.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Wow! Great, love the vest, love the blouse, you look great and feel better soon!

  • Mary Beth (formerly LBD) replied 10 years ago

I love this!  Just dying over how amazing that vest looks on you!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

That vest is stunning on you Deborah - this will become a favourite piece I'm sure. I will admit that I'm not sure about it with those trousers though - there seems to be a lot of volume (*slinking off to hide*). But I'm not personally into the volume on volume look, so it could just be my eyes.

  • Word Lily replied 10 years ago

Ooh, I can see why you wear this vest a lot! Love the whole look.

  • Elizabeth P replied 10 years ago

I think you look fab... you have such interesting pieces!

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

Wow.  You are a walking work of art!

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Whoa - you look amazing Deborah!  That vest!  Look at the drape and sculpture-ness of it - wow, wow!  (And it makes you look model-thin too - I think the long pants are contributing to that too.)

I can't get over how fabulous this is.

Gorgeous look, and perfect for a long day. I love you in vests in general.

  • Ginkgo replied 10 years ago

Stunning! I'm impressed how you've honed your style so that everything works together exactly right, including your hairstyle.

  • Peri replied 10 years ago

I love it! I don't see too much volume at all, it just looks elegant. It looks like a western version of those beautiful Indian outfits that have the loose pants and the long tunic. Which always looks so comfy I long for a western equivalent.

  • Greyscale replied 10 years ago

I love it, as always. I like how you take unusual statement pieces and make them work in your everyday look without seeming overdone.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

I think it's beautiful and I love the choice of footwear. Very elegant and unexpected.

  • replied 10 years ago

    Fabulous!  Emily said it well.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Thank you so much for your very kind comments:) you sure know how to make a girl feel good:).

Lantana, agree the outfit is asking for gold accessories but you are right I am not a gold girl:). I do have minimal gold accessories for those days when only gold will do but mostly I prefer silver:)

Shannon no slinking off and hiding necessary:). My default would be a skinny leg with this best but it's a work outfit and I felt these pants kind off added to the drama, and were more work appropriate. If I were adapting this outfit for a non work day I would definitely wear sis my jeans:)

JayS, I'm flattered you asked:). I am not sure except to say that YLF has encouraged me to give myself permission to wear what I like. I don't feel the need to dress "a certain way" or conform to trends and I dress for myself. I do have to make concessions for work and tend to dress a little more conservatively than I prefer, but i do try to make sure I still include elements that make me feel like me. I have also become much more discerning with respect to what I buy. I no longer just buy things I like, I buy things that I love, and that I feel confident fit my perceived style persona. For example, I may think fit and flare floral sundresses are gorgeous, but it's very unlikely you would ever see me on one...they are pretty but not me;)

  • carambola replied 10 years ago

Wow, this is stunning! Love the blouse too.

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

Lovely, Deborah! What an amazing vest. It really suits your style perfectly, how sweet of Archer to send it your way. Now this is how to travel in dramatic fashion ^^

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

    Killer

    Very dramatic, and nice palette.

  • Grey Rainbow replied 10 years ago

Wonderful drama! I love your style and appreciate your WIW posts as you give me courage and Inspiration!

  • Debora replied 10 years ago

What a day you've had! You look gorgeous in this, and I never would have believed you had been traveling all day if you hadn't said so. I love how the shoes complement your top. Just lovely, Deborah!

  • AJ replied 10 years ago

Dramatic, arty sophistication...luv it! That blouse looks luxe and the structure and drape of that vest makes me swoon! YLF (as usual). :-)

  • JayS replied 10 years ago

Deborah, thanks for responding to my question. I especially like what you said about only buying things you love. That must take a lot of discipline...something I need to work on.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous vest, so long and dramatic.  I really like it paired with the softer printed top, a lovely pairing!

  • FlorenceFearne replied 10 years ago

Ooooh, I'm clearly behind on my reading, as I must have missed this. It seems like every new post from you is a new favorite for me, and this is no exception. That fabulous yet classic blouse, the amazing lines on that statement making vest, and the little bit of matchiness you've added with the shoes... perfection. :D
