WIW : From Casual to Dressy

Happy Sunday Fabbers!

It's a horrible day here, hot, dry and windy with extreme fire warnings. Friends of ours had to pack and leave their homes this morning as they was a fire heading towards them. Thankfully it is all now under control and they can head home :) This not something we ever had to worry about living where we did in Melbourne.

Anyway, I wore this today.

Sparkly sweater over my ruched pants with my peep toe booties.
You may recall I purchased these pants for casual. Picturing them with a slopping tee and flats?? Well, I can't help myself. Shortly after buying them I spotted similar online and in magazines worn dressy with heels... so there is a good chance their next outing may to the office this week:)

So the question mark here is the length of the pants with booties. I liked it but what do you think?

Also Im disappointed that my hair is looking very yellow in my pics. So vanity had me post #4 to show you what colour my hair really is in natural light. Just been to my salon to buy some care products to keep the blond looking good.

Better stop as I think I am now rambling. Hope you are having a great weekend and thanks for taking a look at this outfit.

xxx Deborah

I love your hair and now I have eyebrow envy too! Oh and the outfit is nice too :)

Deborah, you can do no wrong . Your style is so beautifully honed and your hair is part of it. It's hard to look at your hair though when you have such gorgeous amazing eyes!

The length works for me here and the whole outfit is terrific. The bits of skin balance out on top and bottom and a great way to be covered and comfortable in the heat. Your hair and eye color are both stunning Deborah - no worries there!

I love this look on you. Who made the pants?

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

abc, Joy and Shevia, thank you:) Shevia I felt the proportions worked but I really appreciate the affirmation.

Angie_T the pants are from a chain store here in Aus called "Rockmans". Not expensive but reasonable quality. But this style and other variations is quite popular in our shops at the moment:)

I think the proportions work really well here Deborah. The high vamp on your sandals work the same way as Angie's ankle strap with cropped pants formula works IMHO.

I think the length works well with the high vamp of your bootie. I love all of the pieces. Is the top new? The open weave is very nice.

Your eyes are amazing! The shorter cut really makes them pop.

    Love this all!

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

    Shannon, thank you:)

Susie the sweater was actually thrifted about 18 months ago. It's from Target and was pretty current at the time I found it. At about $4.00 I have well and truly for my cost per wear but I was thinking this may be it's last summer:(

Thanks Amy, I could see you working the crop pant / bootie look;)

The pants are great at that length, Deborah -just a bit edgy and interesting. I think they will be perfect dressed up for work, especially with heels as you have styled them here. The sparkly top is lovely. I like that it is loose without being heavy or overwhelming. The sparkle makes the whole outfit look lighter. And your hair is looking great.

I think the pant length (and the booties) is working well in that your legs look in good proportion with your top half.
I recall Angie talking about showing some skin in-between hem and shoe and this is a great illustration!
I am enjoying the cooler-change- mid-twenties feels positively energising and cool :)

Another great look :) I love these comfy little pants and dressing them up with booties is just brilliance. Your hair is perfect, suits you to a T :)

P.S. Watching the fires on the news, glad to see they are not near you....stay safe :)

    Another schmick outfit, Deborah!

You look truly fabulous, Deborah. How do you manage in the dry heat? The proportions are perfect, and I second what Shannon said bout your shoes. How do you proceed to groom your eyebrows like that? I would love to have that look, but I'm completely unable to achieve it myself.

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

Your hair and eyebrows look beautiful Deborah.
This is a darling outfit and I think the sliver of skin at the ankle adds to the overall effect somehow.
This is proving to be a draining season with the heat and the fires, isn't it.

I think the flash of skin between booties and pants keeps it looking summery. Without the gap would also be great in cooler weather.

The hair is still great! Go the purple shampoo if you are worried, but I don't see any golden hues yet!

You look beautiful. I think the pant length is perfect as having a little "peek" of skin between booties and pants helps to keep the outfit from looking too heavy. That is so scary about the fires. Stay safe, Deborah.

    Very cool!

This looks great!  I would wear it to the office soon.

YLF! Hair cut, color, and outfit. Agree with Shevia and others, the sliver of bare ankle balances the open neckline and bare forearms. Thanks for the outfit inspiration too -- I have similar silk "track" pants from Eileen Fisher and will try them with this combination of top and shoes. As soon as I find the shoes! You do have the most wonderful collection...

Love it all ... including the gorgeous kitchen in the background btw ;)

Deborah when I first saw you here, I remarked about how amazing you were with pant hems and shoes.  Do you remember that? Well, You still are the master. This looks perfectly great to my eye.

Are you trying to keep your hair in the more ashen shade of blonde? I actually kind of like the brighter blond on you with all of your blacks.  If you go to ashy I am afraid you will blur out in contrast to the strength of the blacks.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Thanks Kary.  You are so very kind:)  Not ashen but more white in the hair department.  It's a tricky one because I don't do an all over colour, so my own natural colour plays a role, hence the gold tones.
