Wildcard Jacket Arrived

Well, I think this would be a true wildcard for me!

Some quick pics when I got home from work.  Long day so just popped it on over what I was wearing #1 & #2  and with a ink top under it #3

The jacket has a lot more yellow that I imagined.

My initial thoughts are:

  • it's different but I really like the jacket
  • I think it would look best with navy
  • the blue in it is almost cobalt and I do have cobalt in my wardrobe
  • I am not sure of the yellow on me, is there enough blue to combat the yellow?

I am sorry I don't have time to style properly and I will have a play but was keen to see if you think the item actually works for me colour wise before I put the effort in.

xxxDeborah

I think the yellow looks fine. And you're right about the blue, I think you look fantastic in the third picture!

Thumbs up from me. I don't think the yellow is a problem, it is just an accent (I think sometimes accent colours can seem stronger than they are when you are not used to wearing them). I really like it with the blue and the white. I can see it with your blue Witchery dress.

I like it! I prefer it with the ink and white, as a lighter look. I may just be in summer mode, though. The cut and fit are very 'you'. I hope you enjoy it.

I like it! It fits your style but just a bit different. I like it with the navy top and white pants...very fresh and summer-y. Definitely keep it.

  • Aquamarine replied 8 years ago

I like this much more on you than I thought I would. It looks fantastic in the last shot. Not too much yellow at all, and it drapes beautifully. I would keep it for sure.

Lovely cut for you! I think you need to play about with it a bit -- see if you have enough white and ink/ navy under layers to make it work. I don't care for it with the black but do love it with the blue and think the colour combo is fabulous on you!

    What Suz said. Fun piece!

Looks lovely! I like your new forays into colour and print.

With pieces like this, the devil is in the detail isn't it? For instance, I love it with the black, it looks directional and unusual to me. With blue and white though, it's fine, but it lacks your usual dramatic flair.

I say keep the supporting colours as simple as possible and bring out the drama of the print with your avant-garde silhouettes. Can you do an ink-out underneath?

I really like it for you! Love Rio's idea of a total in-out under it.

I really like it in the last photo with the blue top and white bottom.  It looks great on you and I don't see any problems with the yellow.  I think it's going to come down to how you feel about the yellow.  Will you be uncomfortable wearing it or will you get used to the color?

I love the outfit in #3. You look great. I agree that the jacket looks better with blue.

  • Janet replied 8 years ago

I don't mind the yellow in it at all. I also do not wear yellow but I like this amount in a print, it provides a nice contrast with the blue tones.

I love #3. I'm not as crazy about it with a column of black -- all the black feels a little too heavy for the jacket. But it's brilliant with white and navy, and would be with cobalt as well.

I really like it in #3 and don't think there's too much yellow.  The cobalt combats the yellow and looks great on you.

Love it with blue - not so much with the black.  This is one of my favorite cuts of jacket when it can be found.

  • Diana replied 8 years ago

I think it looks great on you.  The yellow works - it's not overwhelming and complements your blonde hair.

I'm going to be a spanner and say I prefer it with the all-black.  It's fine with the navy/white but the outfit looks a bit generic IMO.  The bright jacket over the column of black looks very unexpected and unique and I love the effect of the multiple drapey items on top of each other.  I think it would also work over a column of navy.

  • Dee replied 8 years ago

I vote to keep it as well.  I like it better with the ink than with the black, but as other have said, I would love to see it over a column of ink or navy.  I think that the jacket is a great addition for spring and summer and would like to see you style it with the cobalt in your wardrobe.

  • shedev replied 8 years ago

I like it most with the navy.

  • Ginkgo replied 8 years ago

I vote to keep also, and prefer it with the black.  Am again swooning over your hair and makeup and just how perfectly you've honed your style.

(The wildest card on them all!)

LOVE IT. And both ways you styled it here too.

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 8 years ago

A definite wildcard for you, but a fantastic one! Love both these looks.

  • Cococat replied 8 years ago

I really like it too. It looks great with navy and white, but I also like the high contrast with black. To my eye, that's a more edgy and unexpected look.

Love it! The shape is Very You and the colors are a fun change from your usual look! Keep!!!

    I think it looks great!
I may not be focusing on "your style" per se, but just how does it look.
First, I really like the fit and drape and angle/points. I think that really works as not just a shirt or jacket topper. The size looks perfect.
The colors are wonderful--you have to like them, of course, but they're fresh, fun and flattering.
I understand the greater impact over column of dark color--which you could do with navy, too--but I still also like it with white. Sure, you're the queen of black but this jacket can go both ways so I would definitely create outfis with white as well for a summery look.

  • replied 8 years ago

I just LOVE it, but you must wear it with blue, not black! Just my opinion of course.

  • Elizabeth P replied 8 years ago

Omgoodness, did I not respond to this! I say get rid of it, and I'll pm you the address to send it to :). J/k of course, but I like it a lot. I also prefer it with the lighter colours, as it's so fresh. it's a great way to introduce some yellow into your life.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 8 years ago

I like it both ways. With the black outfit, it looks like a statement addition to your signature style. With the blue and white, it takes your style in a new direction that still feels cohesive--a bold look, yet more colorful than your usual use of just one accent color. The yellow does not bother me at all; in fact, I find it really nice with your light hair.

  • Kiwimom replied 8 years ago

Love it both ways. Blue and white is the safer option, the column of black is more dramatic. Looking forward to seeing how you style it with other pieces in your wardrobe.

  • lyn67 replied 8 years ago

Did not read the comments (especially). I like it, and I think would look best a column of all navies (but as you did here works, too), or a column of white. Keep:-)

  • Karin L H replied 8 years ago

Such a cool jacket!! I love it, and I think it looks great on you! Like some of the others I prefer it with the black underneath, but it looks good with navy too. I think keep!

  • CocoLion replied 8 years ago

    KEEP!

  • Karie replied 8 years ago

Not too much yellow at all. I like it in #3, but I'd like to see it over a column of navy.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Thank you very much for your comments:)  I am going to keep.  I am thrilled you like it:)  I actually do like the sharpness of the black with it the more I look at it.  But I do want a column of navy also. SOOOO I am thinking of ordering #1 - they would be a Christmas pressie from DH:)

While wearing it with white seems a no brainer, I am just didn't love it with white bottoms when I tried them.  I think it was Diana who suggested the look was a bit 'generic' and I agree.  I really think I need a darker column underneath to feel like 'me'.

I can't wait to wear it!  DH's response is going to be interesting lol.
