WIB: Spaghetti Western!!

Hi Ladies,

Something I have been wanting to add to my Autumn/Winter wardrobe is one of those 'blanket wraps'  And there is a chance I may actually add more than one (don't tell anyone lol).

Please note this is not styled.  Just popped it on when I got home:)

I was particularly inspired by the pic in #5.  I know I don't have her height, model looks or colouring... BUT...sometimes it's fun to take a little step away from your 'usual'.

You may need to sit down as this is the first thing in a long time that is not all black!  It does has some black in it tho:)  I am not sure how well the colours are coming up but it has black, navy, redish brown, taupe and a green.  I think it is very Clint Eastwood from his Spaghetti Western period and I am not big on brown tones but I actually really love it.    I also prefer the blanket stitch as opposed to the fringes that are on a lot of ponchos and wraps this season.

What do you think?  Have I lost my mind??  Of course I will wear it with black:)

Thanks for looking.

xxx Deborah

Well done, must be the day for stepping outside signature looks...although there are elements of your style with the draping.

I think it is a fabulous piece and look forward to seeing you style it.  It looks warm and cosy which is very appealing.

  • Astrid replied 9 years ago

Not what I had expected you to wear, but I think it works for you! I prefer blanket stitch over fringe too. It als looks warm and comfortable...

  • dakotacheryl replied 9 years ago

Nice to change things up, and this looks v cuddly and warm. Funny to see you gals adding to your autumn and winter wardrobes as I'm adding to my spring and summer (although we do have a little layer of snow on the grass this morning).

  • Vildy replied 9 years ago

    well, I love it.

  • Aquamarine replied 9 years ago

Different for you but very dramatic, which you do well! It's nice to step out of the box and I look forward to seeing how you style this, Deborah.

  • Joyce B replied 9 years ago

    It looks great on you.

  • kkards replied 9 years ago

love this! those colors are fab, warm, deep are rich, they show off your column of black to great advantage.

  • frannieb replied 9 years ago

Love it - At the end of the season i bought a leopard print wrap and oh my gosh it is hard crushing on it.  Wraps have a certain amount of drama and flow which I think go great with your style.
The coloring is different for you but the drape and structure are right up there in your wheelhouse and i think you will style this amazingly.

  • Sheila replied 9 years ago

I think this is my MOST favorite item I have seen on you ! It has the drama that suits you and it looks spectacular ! Looks so cozy as well.  5 stars !

  • replied 9 years ago

Yay, double yay, Deborah -- I so agree with Sheila. This is just AMAZING on you and you look great in those colours. So Autumnal! I very much like the drama of it styled with black (no worries for you given your wardrobe!). As I learned yesterday from my post, it is such a good thing to add these wildcards to the mix for an uplifting sense of fresh. PERFECT!

  • replied 9 years ago

Yes, it is a surprise to see you in it, but also a big yes and thumbs up! I think it has your drama and it has a healthy dose of black in it too, so will work for you.

  • Olivegreen replied 9 years ago

Wow, love it. Drape and tonal color and the ability to style it many ways.
I travel with one or two of these, and have for ages. They do give an ethnic vibe, being the basic template for clothes through the ages :-)
Short people look great in these, I think. Our poncho wearing Mexican and South American neighbours are not tall.
Kind of excited to have a wardrobe item in common with one of the more stylish ladies!

  • Kimberley replied 9 years ago

Oh my.  I love this on you, Deborah!  It is dramatic, drapey and delicious.

  • Vicki replied 9 years ago

I like it, because it's your signature look, beautiful and drapey, in a new kind of way!  Love the "Spaghetti Western" title!

  • Elizabeth P replied 9 years ago

    LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It may be a bit different for you, but it's still very you.  have fun with it!

  • Carole replied 9 years ago

Yes, catchy title, love it! And love the blanket wrap...I think the colors are beautiful and compliment you and your mostly black wardrobe nicely!

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

I like it best in picture 3, fun piece.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

It's the kind of item that makes the outfit on it's own self, and totally matches your all blacks! I looks soft and drapey, so not a chuncky feel, at all. Love it on you(all ways) but curious how  will look alike the inspiration pictie. Oh, and can we see the other new blacket, too? :-)

  • Missey replied 9 years ago

I love it!  I'll admit I was shocked to see autumnal colors when I opened up the photos ;)!  Fantastic colorway on you, love the style.  Perfect for fall and winter!

  • kellygirl replied 9 years ago

It's fabulous! You wear it so well!

  • Laurie replied 9 years ago

This is outstanding - it's nice to see some color for you!  Beautiful tones with your hair.

  • amiable replied 9 years ago

Looks terrific!  i think the high drama makes it work for you :)

  • columbine(erin) replied 9 years ago

I like the drama and flair for you of course, but also the coloring looks good with your own. It will look great over your column of color outfits.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Well colour me surprised! This isn't an item I would normally picture for you Deb but wow oh wow...it looks fantastic on you! I especially like how you're wearing it in pic #3. Yeehaw!!!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

I agree, the poncho really suits you, Deborah. It is very much your style--imagine it in all black and a silkier fabric, and it is very much you. So it's the color, the blanket-like fabric, and the blanket stitch that are different elements here. I love the different ways you are wearing it--all fab!
And as long as you wear it with black, I don't think you are losing your mind. :)

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Oh gosh I love the style for you, but to be completely honest the colour way gives me pause. It's just such a warm toned departure from what I'm used to seeing you in. Not a bad thing, if you love it you should keep it.

  • texstyle replied 9 years ago

I like it - it's a fun piece. My only pause is the color combination.

  • Sara L. replied 9 years ago

I actually think it goes well with your style - arty and drapey.  The colors will look great against black.

  • Peri replied 9 years ago

I love it on you, and agree with the idea that it is very much your style. Drapey, soft, dramatic, artsy...how is that not Deborah? I love the colors on you too, and have no issues with it not being black.

  • AM replied 9 years ago

I love the lines but I also pause on these colors. I'd rather see you invest in a similar piece that would be in keeping with your black, grays, blue, white palette.

  • Dee replied 9 years ago

I would never have pictured you in a poncho but it suits you quite well! I like the fact that it's outside your usual color palette but can still work with what you already have.

  • Janet replied 9 years ago

I think it looks fantastic! Not the color scheme I expected from you, but I think it works. It looks great with the column of black underneath.

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

This piece is incredible. Yes yes yes.

Ok. What did I do with my blanket wrap?

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thanks for the positive comments:)  Those who mentioned it is a warmer palette for me, yes it is but I feel quite comfortable in it.  I think this may be my winter wildcard:)

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

I love it! Very dramatic, very drapey, very gorgeous!

  • anne replied 9 years ago

Hi Deborah - I wonder if you'd mind sharing with us where you bought it?

I am keen to get some sort of poncho wrap this winter, but I hadn't seen this blanket sort. I have blankets with very similar designs (all my blankets are handed down from my family, and from a time when Australia had woolen mills)
Looks very cosy, and yes, the colour works.

  • sarah replied 9 years ago

Wow, that is amazing on you! I can't believe how you just donned it and it's you.

But of course you need a hat.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Anne, happy to share but you may be surprised!!  It's from Millers. I have been asked to do some work for them so I was scouring their online store to see what might work for me.  Its called the Colour Block Wrap.  I think it's sold out on line but you could try your local store.  I can send you the product number if you need it.  It was $30.  It's not as heavy as it looks, but is nice quality and very soft to the touch.  All their wraps are reduced at the moment to $18.00.  I bough the one below today.  You see I take Angie's mantra "leave no retail stone unturned" very seriously.

Attaching the screen dump from the link for the other one too.

  • anne replied 9 years ago

Thanks for the tip! I just bought the black and white one.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Anne that's wonderful!  It will look great.  How are you planning on wearing yours?

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

It's really a fantastic wildcard. Can't say enough how much I like it.

  • anne replied 9 years ago

Deborah, my first thought was to wear it for my winter "cosy casual" capsule - for things like sitting around on the couch for bible study, or watching a movie at home. But I could probably expand it's wearing a bit further than just that.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Anne that was my thinking for the black and white one too.    It's nicer than wrapping myself in a throw rug lol

  • cheryl replied 9 years ago

I think it looks great on you and will be a perfect wildcard for your fall wardrobe. :)

  • Staysfit replied 9 years ago

Love it! It's a nice addition and definitely unexpected.
