What do you think?

Hi Ladies,

I would love your thoughts on these skirted pants from Moto.  These are not the skirted leggings I bought the other day.

I have tried these on and trust me they actually look better than on the model (hope this doesn't sound arrogant but I was very surprised at the lovely line this item created on a real person i.e. me:)  ).

Upon trying them on I could immediately see these becoming part of my very small special occasion capsule:)  I currently have three dresses across all seasons that get worn to weddings and the like.  I feel one of them is soon to be retired as it's no longer quite the style I want to be wearing (it's over 5 years old) and the last time I wore it was about 3 years ago.

I could see these working with a short tunic top, a sharp white shirt and tux jacket, even a subtly oversized fine gauge sweater.

Do you see the potential here, or are they just a bit weird??  They are on sale so now would be a good time to buy.  Fabric is the same as my skirted leggings and quite transeasonal so I could wear them for one or two end of year/Christmas events we will be attending.

Thank you for looking and I appreciate your opinions.

xxxDeborah

I like them. They're quite in sync with your sense of style....very Deborah!

They will definitely look great with a pretty top or the white shirt+tux jacket combo you mention....with your killer block heeled pumps and some silver jewellery. Yes, I can almost visualize that outfit...it's stunning and hence I think these are a great addition to your dressy capsule.

I noticed those on motto when you first alerted us to the brand. They are very intriguing. I think I would like them as long as the pant part is not too tight (otherwise it might just look like you are wearing half a skirt). From what you say, that is not an issue. I say trust your instincts and give them a go. :)

I can see them working well with your wardrobe. They do seem very you. A bit different and unexpected but still very classy and polished. I say give them a go.

I think they could be very versatile and would be a great addition to your wardrobe.  I love the idea of wearing something unexpected for Christmas / end of year functions. Whilst different, they are not outrageously so.

I like them. I can see them fitting well into your closet.

These are really different. I like them alot, and bet you dress them up beautifully. I think they will be an outstanding wardrobe addition. Looking forward to seeing you wear them.

I find them intriguing. My first instinct is that I prefer them over harem pants (which I admittedly have a bit of a poison eye for).

I think fit is key -- it almost looks like they could have put the model in a size larger, so I can see why you say the stock photos don't necessarily do the pants justice.

I think they suit you perfectly and would be quite versatile.

I love that they show them on a model who has hips! And lower hips at that! How totally refreshing. In the US, they would have shown them on a 14 year old with no hips.

I like these Deborah.  HL et al does a similiar cut in skirt but the slit is high, doesn't this side step the whole issue beautifully.  I could see these swing very dressy but be versatile dressy casual.  I say go for it and I can't wait to see how you style them!!

I am not sure about these, to be perfectly honest. They could either be really cool, or really weird depending on who is wearing them.  I don't think the model is doing them any favours - especially seeing her bare midriff- and the back view is not particularly flattering to my eye. But who knows with these things?  I think the shoes are wrong here too - and why websites insist on photographing models with black pumps with everything is really mystifying.  Even Nordstrom is guilty of it. Anyways - are they particularly expensive or are they not such a worry cost-wise?

They don't strike me as particularly dressy, but I think we'll need to see you in them Deborah. I'm sure you could add some sparkle or shine to dress them up, and can certainly see how they'd work well with tunics. They have a more dramatic feel, which of course suits your style. Since you are looking at reigning in some drape, do you think that this helps or hinders that? Would you wear drapey or tailored tops/jackets with it?

I actually really love these. I can see them looking very dressy with a pair of heels and the right top, although they would be stunning in a more casual combination as well. I think they are well worth the investment.

These are very cool and seem like trompe l'oeil harem pants to me. Gotta see them on!

  • Janet replied 8 years ago

Carter, IKWYM. The model actually has a shape more similar to mine than any model I've ever seen. I was kind of surprised to see that.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Thank you for your thoughts. I will go back and try then on again. I think they will work well with structured and unstructured toppers making for quite a bit of versatility;). They are reduced to $70 right now so price is good. I just need to be sure I will wear them. They are probably a bit "dramatic" for work but I only work 2 days so plenty of other opportunities;). Btw, it's the fabric that makes them a little dressy;)

    Hmmm...

  • Jaime replied 8 years ago

The shape is dramatic and interesting but I would want to see them on - I would be afraid they would get all twisted up when I walk. That's me though ;-).

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

She is they fall perfectly with movement, but good point;)

BC what are you thinking lol

  • Echo replied 8 years ago

Does this brand have a website? I'd love to see what else they had. Sorry if it was posted previously; I must have missed it if it was.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

    Echo for you... Enjoy;(

I's with Carter and Janet on the hips thing - you would not see me with my fuller "lower hips) wearing that!  But I believe you when you say it works for your Deb, with your slimmer legs.

It does remind me a little  of those skirt/trouser things we discussed years ago (and of which you passed on yours to me) I don't have them anymore and had moved more to slimmer bottoms, but I wonder if this has this item appeals on the same level?

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Anne did you see my skirted leggings?? I finally found my perfect pair. I'm wearing them today!

  • anne replied 8 years ago

    Yes I did - sorry if I didn't respond :-)

They look great and I'm glad you're wearing them a lot!. I'm still wearing the ones you passed on to me in January too, though mostly just as leggings.

  • replied 8 years ago

I think you have to have a certain body type to wear them. Also, what's worn with them is important. I'd have to see a full outfit before I'd be able to comment.

  • lyn67 replied 8 years ago

If somebody can pull these off than you are the one, Debs, you always have the most edgy stylings to such controversial things! Let's see!

  • approprio replied 8 years ago

I agree with lisap. These could so easily go one of two ways - a slam dunk or an epic fail.

We need to see them on you. Head for the changing room immediately.
