Outfits for Two Days Training : WDYT?

Hi Ladies,

I have two days training for my new job this week in Melbourne.

I don't have to wear Motto, we have been told to dress as we please but I want to incorporate some of their items into my outfits.

#1 Is my definite choice for the first day.  The outfit is Motto Skirt, Metalicus top and Motto Belt and Kmart ($20.00 and oh so comfortable) platform wedge sandals.

For the second day I have put together the following.  My presumption is Day 2 we will be a little more relaxed (there will be three of us in training) and can be a little more casual.

#2 Motto Crop pant and Metalicus top (same as the black in #1)

#3  Motto Crop pant and Suzanne Grey Metallic Sweater

#4 Motto Crop pant and Motto Jersey Cha Cha top belted.

#5 Motto Crop pant and Metalicus Wrap vest belted.  This one is a bit of a wildcard I think but I quite liked it worn this way.

Note these photos are not styled, nor am I wearing make up.

I have room in my case to take 2 or even 3 tops and decide on the morning.    I think what I am hoping to communicate is that I love style, can put an outfit together and can be creative and not simply style like the catalogue pics.

I would really appreciate your advice:)  I am trying not to over think this and don't want to spend hours planning and packing for a one night stay :)

Thanks so much
xxx Deborah

Number 5 is my firm favourite for day 2 - seems to have more levels of interest.
I was very attracted by those Kmart sandals too Deb (they were out of my size) I miss my suede wedge sandals from a couple of years ago.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Anne thanks so much.  I like #5 but wasn't sure if I was seeing it objectively:)

I bought the sandals last week because I wanted something with height but comfort for my days in the store.  I am really impressed with them.  They appear to be a copy of a pair of sandals by Toms which are around the $100 mark:)

Love your choice for day one. It looks very unique and 'you'. For day two I'm torn between #3 and #5. I think #5 looks perhaps the most casual to my eye, so if that's how you feel too then you may be able to asses the dress levels... if more casual is fine then go for it as it's got an unusual drama to it.

  • Cococat replied 8 years ago

Well, I looked at pic 2 and thought, 'fab', then 3, 4 and 5 and thought the same thing! Lol. It's hard to choose because you look great in everything.

If I had to pic one look, I would go for 3 or 5, but I still can't make a final decision. :)

I hope you have fun doing the training.

  • replied 8 years ago

My firm favorite is number 4.  It looks dramatic.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Thanks Diane and Coco:)  I keeping a tally of preferences:)

Sterling thank you too.  #4 is my fave at this stage, then #5 so I am thrilled you chose it.  That outfit is all Motto so it would be a good choice:)

How exciting! They all look good but I think I would favour 3 or 5 over 2 or 4 because I think they are the most creative in terms of layering etc and therefore show originality (especially 5). Personally I would not wear the long necklace with the belt in 5 - I would go short necklace or bare. But that's a thing with me.
Hair is looking fab by the way. Good luck :)

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Brooklyn, thank you! I agree re necklace, I had it on from previous outfit. I could layer a couple of shorter necklaces??

  • Brooklyn replied 8 years ago

Yes, I think that would work. Just so it's not so close to the belt.

  • Karie replied 8 years ago

They're all fantastic, but my favs are #1, #4, and #5 - they look the most creative to me. I agree with Brooklyn about the necklace in #5, I would go with a shorter necklace, or layer a few shorter necklaces.

  • Lucy replied 8 years ago

    Yay! You look great.
I love them all but #1 and #4 are my favourites. Super cool.

Like Anne , I too love the sandals, they are perfect for what I am looking for atm for work.  I'm wondering do you think they will hold up ok? I've had a bad experience with Kmart shoes just now! I recently bought my son a pair of black runners for school, he had worn through his expensive pair and I thought it wasn't worth spending a lot for 6 weeks left of school! They lasted only eight days :(
(And I wouldn't say he was hard on his shoes either, given the other ones were bought in January!).

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

    Thanks Lucy:)

I have never bought Kmart shoes before! I was in need of something really comfy but didn't have money to spend so thought I would take a look. They seem solid and well made and I would hope they make it through the summer.

My son is terrible with shoes, cheap or expensive he trashes them:). His current pair are from Big W and are lasting surprisingly well.

  • Lucy replied 8 years ago

Thanks Deborah, I will have a look when I go to return the other ones this week :)
Best of luck for the training, it should be fun.

I read a few responses and then decided to post my opinion before I was influenced.  My favorite is #4.  I find it is dramatic but simple and looks effortless which is a good look for training with new co-workers.

  • replied 8 years ago

Very nice all round! Outfit 1 is perfect for day 1. Since you're wearing a dress on day 1, I'd opt for 2,3, or 4 on day 2: Outfit 5 seems closer to outfit 1 to me with its longer length tunic, same belt and shoes. I think it'd be nice to show you can pull together a different look. My personal fave among 2-4 is 3 because of the textures, simple line, and balanced proportions, but 4 is a very close runner up. What's holding me back on that one is the repeat of the same statement piece--the belt--from the day before. I just feel it is such a statement piece that it's ideal reserved for just one day so you convey an ability to pull together totally different looks (draped/tucked versus sleek lines). But whatever you choose will be great!

I look forward to hearing how the training went--especially if you have any inside style tips to share :). I'm sure you'll have a great time!

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Thanks Aliona. Good points. I should have mentioned the belt is a signature Motto item.n the make only two belts and they are integral to the Motto "look".

I have a lot if tops to choose from but many are sleeveless and I want more coverage.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

    Woops!

  • replied 8 years ago

Aha, yes, thanks for the explanation, it does make a difference. In that case, 3 and 4 tie as my votes for day 2. Also, Lucy's comment on the shoes brought up another thought for me: Are you taking along a backup pair of shoes? Despite shoes being a bigger item to pack, I always carry along a backup pair for business trips in case of malfunction, even if my backups are ballet flats.

  • lyn67 replied 8 years ago

I like nr 3 or 4 for the second day. First is a showstopper, and all are good, but would suggest to change the silhouette in between the 2 days. That would really show your  super creative side. I particularly love nr 3, as it is a quirky layering on top of all! BTW this is a great Motto capsule, have fun!

  • MTBGirl replied 8 years ago

Yay you got the belt! Love #1 and for the second day my pick would be #3, but you can't go wrong. Have a good training trip!

  • Bijou replied 8 years ago

I like number 4 for the second day.  As you are working at Motto, I think it shows how much you like their designs by wearing a complete Motto outfit.  In addition, it is simply a beautiful look.

  • replied 8 years ago

Without reading all the other replies, I like 4 the best for day 2, although I have to admit the belt is competing with the neckline strappy things on the top to my eye.  It's the first thing my eye goes to in the photo.  I really love the metallic top in photo 3 with that belt, and it just needs a third piece to look finished enough for a professional work situation.  That would be my other fav for you :)

  • Maneera replied 8 years ago

I like #1 for Day 1 and #3 for Day 2. #5 is a fantastic look; but a bit too similar to #1. I think #3 is unique, interesting, casual and still very much YOU

  • replied 8 years ago

Will you need a topper of some sort?
I like that #5 has a different neckline from the others; it adds some variety.
I like 4 the best, too, and the drape of the top in 3!
I also like the lighter, pinker lip on you (yes, I know you're not wearing makeup but I think it looks good for summer!). That adds some variety too.

  • Sara L. replied 8 years ago

My favorite is #4 although these are all great outfits.  I also like #2 with the red top since it has color which is quite different from #1 that you are wearing the first day.

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

I LOVE #2. You look gorgeous in that shade of red, Debs.

  • Beth Ann replied 8 years ago

OK -- not reading other comments, until I write this:

Love #1 --- very flattering proportions, beautiful drape, and the skin breaks up the black and adds structure

#2 -- gorgeous color, but I have this vague feeling that it needs one more thing --- a topper vest, a bold necklace, a cuff?

#3  -- awesome look -- even simpler that #2, but this one reads as complete to me.  The proportions are a bit more modern perhaps, than in #2, with a slightly cropped top and pant.  It's also a bit "cooler" in color palette, which is good for your season.  Please wear this one often!

#4 Not loving the belt with this one --- I'd like to see the top drape freely.

#5 -- very arty, with interesting silhouette and drape.  I love this one, and the belt is integrated into the whole.

  • Beth Ann replied 8 years ago

Oh yes, and I just spied Angie's comment above mine --- she loves the red!  Well, I did promise not to read them!

  • Cerinda replied 8 years ago

What a shame you can't wear all of these lovely combinations!  I vote for the red, perhaps because it strikes me as unexpected.  Have a great time!

  • Bonnie replied 8 years ago

You have a great selection to choose from but I like #1 and #4 for the days as you describe them. They're different from each other and unique and show that signature belt.

  • shedev replied 8 years ago

You cant really go wrong with any of these. My favs are 1 and 3.

  • replied 8 years ago

I like 1 and 2 the best, in part because I think you show your ability to incorporate different elements with these two outfits.

You look gorgeous, I LOVE the way you look in these and I really like the  inclusion of the feminine shoes, they bring a lightness and softness to your look that is very very flattering.

  • rachylou replied 8 years ago

They're all good. I'm partial to #3 because it feels very accessible.

  • Colette replied 8 years ago

The way you put together outfits is amazing to me and they all look great. The red is stunning on you by the way. Here is my ranking: 2, 1, 3, 5 and 4. Good luck at your training!

  • Elizabeth P replied 8 years ago

Love #4!  OK, love them all, but that one the most.  then #5.

  • Echo replied 8 years ago

I chose #4 before reading any other comments. I think it is not only the most flattering, but the most interesting as well. Off to read more...

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 8 years ago

Not looking at others' responses yet. I vote #4 and then the red.
Your first day outfit is awesome.
What fun! Usually I enjoy the break, and I learn a lot from work training. Occasionally it can be a bit dull. I hope your training is the good type.

  • Karin L H replied 8 years ago

Oooh, tricky, they are all such great outfits! I think I prefer #2 and 5. #2 for the red colour, and #5 for the creative feeling. But I don't think you can go wrong with either one, they are all great looks!

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Thank you so much! I'm packed and leaving at 6.30 in the morning. For Day 2 I reworked #4. Black is my happy colour and I really wanted to feel and look like I normally do. I'm still feeling my way with the cropped pants look. I will try and get a picture. Your input is much appreciated. Can't wait to let you know how it goes xxx
