Lipstick!

Hi Fabbers!

One of my key make up items has always been my lipstick.  Red has kind of been my signature lip colour and over the years I have used a number of brands who at one time or another made 'my red'. Recently I have been looking again for my perfect red and low and behold I found it :)

The brand is Smashbox  (http://www.smashbox.com) and the colour I am now using is Legendary.  It is a beautiful texture, glides on, good coverage and is lasting.. it feels quite luxurious.  I am looking forward to trying some other colours too.

It was a young friend who is studying to be a makeup artist that brought this brand to my attention.  She said it's not only a great product but also commonly used in photo sessions?!?

Just thought I would share my good fortune:}

xxx Deborah

I love Smashbox lipsticks too. It's a great brand! Yes, they do great makeup for photo sessions and the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation and primer are both excellent too.

Thanks Maneera, I might have to give the other products a try too :)

Thanks for the recommendation. It sounds vaguely familiar - off to google it!

Ooh. There's just something about really red lipstick...

I finally found a red that works on me - a good color and doesn't trigger my chemical sensitivities. But I rarely feel bold enough to wear it.

Greyscale, may I ask what the lipstick is??  And I encourage you... be bold!

It's Clinique All Heart - I got it as a sample in a gift bag. It's not really a true red, I suppose, but since I don't usually wear makeup, it feels very bold. My boyfriend thinks it looks great, and he's got good taste in these things, so I should wear it more often.

It's funny, I have no trouble being bold in some big ways (hair, clothes) but makeup is a whole 'nother thing.

I get it!  A nice bold lipstick doesn't take me out of my comfort zone (went through a stage where I wore a very dark black cherry coloured lipstick!!) but other things I just won't try.

Ooh, nice colour Deborah. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have a look next time I go to Mecca.

At the moment I'm wearing a YSL blue based red and Revlon Scarlett Ghost, which is more of a pinky red.

I have only started wearing red this past year. The older I get, the more courageous I become. :-)

Deborah how would you describe the texture?  I like a fairly soft lipstick that doesn't feel too heavy and am always on the lookout for something that works.  I also like a slight sheen but not shiny.  Not too fussy am I?

I am always looking for the perfect red lipstick.  I can't tell you the number I have tried and thrown out.  My favorite color was Mac, but the lipstick dried my lips so badly I just can't wear it.  I tried to find the same exact color in other brands.  No luck, what so ever.  I will try Smashbox.  Thanks for the recommendation.

    Fab find!

    That color looks so pretty!

I'm so not adventurous with lipstick. Anything too bold looks awful on me -- even the most flattering color still looks weird. I think it's just too much on my face. Even hubs doesn't like bold lip color on me. I always have to enjoy these colors vicariously. :-)

No red for me, but I have a couple of other colours from Smashbox and really like the quality . Their glosses are nice too.

I usually wear a bright lip. My current favs are Chanel- gabrielle, and Mac-
brave red. The Chanel is really nice and moist, and stays on really well.

Thanks for the recommendation! I have Smashbox primer and bb cream and love both of them, may have to try the lipstick!
