K/R Graphic B&W

Hi Ladies,

Had a short window to browse the shops today and came home with this!

I am on the lookout for tops that will work with my culottes and wider leg pants.  Ideally these tops would work equally well with a skinny leg or a pencil / tube skirt:)  I spotted this today and liked it in the change room.

These photos are not styled (but you can probably tell that ;) ).  Please note that I always wear heels with my culottes and I think that will create the best proportions.

It does seem to work well under my black draped jackets too but it's nearly 40 here today so I am sorry I couldn't leave a jacket on long enough for a photo lol - am using that as the excuse for no shoes in the pics also:)

I think the shape of the top is in keeping with my style, but the graphic print is something new for me.  I love a graphic pattern but don't often find ones that I feel work for me.  I thought this was ok.

Anyway, over to you wise women.  What do you think?

Thanks so much for taking a look.
xxx Deborah

I really like the pattern on you, Deborah. It's a strong and crisp graphic that suits you well. I also love the silhouette, and agree that it could work both with culottes and a skinny leg pant (or your tube skirts).
(Still loving your shorter 'do too:-)

Thanks Inge:)  I was a bit nervous because I find that some patterns definitely make me look 'big' lol and overwhelm me xx

  • Inge replied 8 years ago

That's not the case here at all!

Agreeing with Inge. I think this really suits you.

Keep Keep Keep!!! I LOVE that top. The B&W graphic print is lovely and quite flattering on you.

Yes, I think it, and you, look fab!

I like it! That is a beautiful pattern, and it meshes really well with your clean, bold aesthetic. And you definitely got the right shape. Keep!

    It looks great on you.

It works and does not overwhelm, but do you love it? Are you looking forward to wearing it?

I like the pattern and it looks good with your culottes.  I can see it working with the other bottoms you mention as well.

  • Elle replied 8 years ago

Keep!  I love the pattern and the assymmetrical shape on you.  It's very flattering on you with the culottes and should also work with other bottoms. I'd love to see it with white bottoms

I like the silhouette and the pattern a lot, Debs - but the fact that you can see the inside of the fabric (stark white and hem edge) with the style gives me pause.

Love the length of the cullottes in #4.

Spanner here. I'm not crazy about it. I feel the shoulder line is a bit stiff...

  • AviaMariah replied 8 years ago

I think it looks good.  But IMO it's not as good of a look as I'm used to seeing you in.  I'm not sure if it's the pattern or the drape of the fabric.

    Hi
It looks good but may be it doesn't quite look as good as it could do - I think the pattern and shape make Ito early complicated, for me.

  • catgirl replied 8 years ago

Hmmm....I think this pattern is a bit conservative even with your edge.  I like it but it doesn't WOW me like the rest of your wardrobe.

  • Lyn D. replied 8 years ago

I like it too- Angie has a sharp eye though- will the hem bother you if it shows the lining?

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Thanks so much for presenting the pros and cons:).

Angie you have an eagle eye:). I was aware and wanted to see how noticeable it was. This is an inexpensive top and one that would primarily be worn to my office job. And it's what I class as a trend item so it will no doubt have a short life span in my closet but I think I will enjoy it, so I don't think this will be an issue for me. A well place stitch might just fix that problem...I will have a look.
