K/R : Birthday Shopping with my Sister

Happy Sunday!

My sister spent the day in Bendigo today and we of course went shopping. I have so birthday money from my MIL and my mum

The Take 2 Market was on at the Town Hall which focuses on vintage, Preloved and new clothing. Bumped I to a lady I know who closed her boutique (new clothing) some months ago (it was one of the few stores I shop at here) and she was selling off some of her stock at the market. So first purchase is

#1- # 3 - blue draped dress. Cut very similar to the Metalicus dress and I bought it without trying on! I think it's a keeper but please do tell me if you see so etching I don't. I may have to get the non drape side of the dress tapered a little. You can see in pic 3 how there is additional fabric. In #1 & #2 I have tapered that seam.

#4-#7 is a dark navy subtle cocoon style dress - with long sleeves!! Difficult to photograph the colour but tried to show the difference against my black tights in #7. The label is "Piper" purchased at Myer (Aus version of Nordies?). It is a wool blend and feels lovely on. Again I think it's a keeper but value your opinions.

Neither dress is styled. Just threw on the boots and popped the dresses on over my tights. The navy dress will need a bright silver pendant I think and works great under a couple of my jackets. The blue will be a great Spring Summer dress but can be layered over to wear now.

Both dresses fit my criteria for purchases. I think they both reflect my style preferences, they are comfortable, will work as part of a layered ensemble and will be versatile enough for various occasions.

May I keep them?

Thanks for taking a look and hope you are having a fab weekend.

xxxDeborah

Oh well I love the blue of course!
Do you mean that you pinned it in the first 2 pics?
If so I would like to see it unpinned for comparison-would the bottom hem be wider?
The navy is a no-brainer- so you and lovely :)

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thanks Lyn. Yes I pinned it. Here is a pic non pinned. What do you think?

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

Hmm- I think I do prefer it unpinned, but it might just be your leaning slightly to one leg pose that looked a bit hip-hugging in the first pics?
Can't get over the beautiful colour- so Fab :)

I love both how fab was your luck. And a Birthday/sister shopping is so much fun. Now I prefer the pin look in the first pics but, I'm almost sure you like a looser drape nevertheless both are lovely.

2 lovely dresses deb. I like pinned better.

  • Momo replied 9 years ago

Love them both. I vote pinned. Love the shape.

Those are both fabulous! What spectacular finds. They look incredibly comfortable as well as stylish. You simply shine in both these blues.

I think I prefer dress #1 tapered. But it might make sense to play around with it using some spring/ summer stylings, since that will be its primary use.

Both are fantastic on you! I can't tell about the tapering from the pictures. The color is gorgeous and I love the navy as well.

The color of #1 is very pretty and looks fantastic on you. I love the cocoon style of #2, plus any dress with long sleeves is a keeper to me as I am always cold. I like the first dress better pinned.

Both look gorgeous on you, and both are keepers!

  • SarahTheWhite replied 9 years ago

Oh wow! How gorgeous are these? I vote keep both. You look wonderful in them!

  • celia replied 9 years ago

    Color? Oh my :)
That blue looks gorgeous on you. I also prefer the dress pinned.
The second dress is also beautiful on you.
You really know what suits you.

Wow, Deborah j- I wish I had your knack for finding fab day dresses!!  These are both wonderful.  I like the blue both tapered and loose but I would pick tapered, if I was making the call, it looks great and you seem to have other looser pieces.  Plus I think it makes it dressier but can still layer casual if that makes sense!!  Love the navy and pockets!!  Wow!!  enjoy, gorgeous versatile picks!!

Love them both, 2 great buys......I like the first dress better pinned too :)

It made my day seeing you in a vibrant and alive blue, Debs.

LOVE the cobalt blue (pinned). Wow. Absolutely killer. It's launched me into orbit. xo

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

I am crazy about the cobalt dress on you!  Do taper the seam if you feel it necessary.  I trust your judgement.  I like the navy dress too, they both look like workhorses.  Whenever I see the background of your photos I realize that your interior style is much like your wardrobe style.  You get an A+ for consistent style vision!

    Thanks so much lovely ladies!

I am wearing the navy one at work today with my taupe boots...no black.. wohoo.

  • Debora replied 9 years ago

Oh yes! Both dresses are outstanding, Deborah. I don't see much of a difference between the pinned and unpinned looks, although I do have a preference for the first two photos. Great finds and happy birthday!

    Cobalt blue!  Cobalt blue!!

  • jazz69 replied 9 years ago

Love both dresses a lot on you- even without additional styling they look very stylish on you! Great finds!

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Oh boy .... You look so beautiful in that blue dress ... I want to keep staring! I love it pinned too. Truly brilliant finds!

  • Elizabeth P replied 9 years ago

Can you keep them?  YOU BETCHA!  Sounds like you already confirmed the navy one - can't wait to see your wiw for today :)

Two fab finds, lucky you.  I also prefer slightly tapered for the first one, but it's fine as is - so no rush to do something you might regret.  Play with it a bit.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Wow, the birthday shopping fairy was smiling on you. How fabulous that you know just what the first dress needs to make it you...a little tapering. Both dresses are wonderful and look like they will fit right in with your style and other pieces.
