Item 2 - Five Piece French Wardrobe

Hi Ladies,

Just a quick update... My plan to follow the Five Piece French Wardrobe concept has loosened a little!  What can I say!!  So it may be more than 5 per season, but I am enjoying putting thought into what I need/want and staying focused on a more minimal wardrobe:)  My shopping has absolutely lessened.

White pants are something I have flirted with but am yet to get to where I want with them.  My mum gave me a slim leg pair she bought for herself but didn't wear.  I enjoyed them.  They were tailored and a nice slim leg but the quality was average and white not a solid white so I moved them on.  Since then I have struggled.  I bought a straight leg white denim jean and wore them a couple of times before I moved them on.  I then found a really nice pair of white skinny jeans towards the end of late last year but having lost weight, they now read as boyfriend jeans.  I have kept them but I want a nice slim leg.

So I am considering the ones in #1.  The crop version may be ideal given my height and they might just be ankle length on me, otherwise the short length in the same pant should be fine.  I have these pants in the short length in black and they are now, I think, onto their 2nd or 3rd Spring summer, so I know they work for me.  I will go an try these on during the week and see how the length is.

I am really hoping to get a pair of white jeans/pants into regular Spring rotation.  I love the look but in the past haven't mastered the styling.  I have seen a lot of inspiration shots on Pinterest that encourage me that I can make the white jeans look mine.

Will let you know how I go :)

xxx Deborah

Oh, keen to see how you go Deborah.

Funny thing, I was looking at the white jeans selection at Big W today with mum. She was saying how much she wears her white pants in the Summer...and I was thinking that I might go back another day and try some on.

CocoC these are from Katies.  $40.00 and they are great.  Good quality and wash and retain their shape well, and they have some stretch.  I must have a look at Big W too tho.

Oh, interesting. I see Katies with fresh eyes thanks to you Deborah.

Personally, I love cropped white pants/jeans...bet you'll wear the heck out of them if the fit/styling is what you hope for!!

I know what you mean about struggling with styling and getting white jeans to look the way you want them to.  Only this past summer was I comfortable with wearing them. I still feel that they are not the most flattering colour to wear on the bottom unless you have a fantastic figure, but I made them work for me (or so I hope they did) by wearing either black, or a soft grey top with them. No bright preppy colours for me - I find that look a little aging and old.  I finally got to the point where I stopped caring about how I looked in them and wore them anyways - they were a godsend this past summer for me.  I don't wear "dress pants" in the summer, and regular blue jeans are too casual for some occasions. White jeans worked. Not pants, but jeans.  White pants I cannot get on board with - my mother wore those :)

    I love these!

I share my love for white jeans with my mum :D While Ankita is the odd one out. I have 3 pairs - skinny, straight leg and bootcut and they get worn ALOT. My mom is one step ahead - she has cropped too :D

I really love white jeans in summer. Somehow, they make my winter-tone tops look summery....the way black or blue jeans simply cannot. Since you also wear a lot of black, grey and navy, and wear high contrast well too, white pants are a FABULOUS pick for you!

Hope they fit like a dream and you really really enjoy them. Good luck!

Please try them! Great if you can find "the ones" for you. They would work great with all of your high-contrast items; can do black sandals and black toppers, gray, red--all still fitting your color palette.

Hope these work for you.  It seems like they would look great with your existing tops.  I love the crispness that white brings to an outfit.

For me, the problem with white is always watching where I sit (sigh).

I think this is a worthy addition to your goal off adding just 5 new pieces to your wardrobe this season.  Did you end up keeping the gray coat?

I think you will find the white jeans go with so many things.  I always pack them on a city trip.  While they are a bit impractical for my ranch-dogs-restaurant routine, they add a lot of chic especially to my black clothing.

And I think getting this capri length, which reads as more of an ankle pant on us petites, is a great idea.

I've struggled with getting white pants right too, Deborah. Yet it seems worth persevering as when they're right, they really take a look up a notch -- I'm thinking Jackie O style. I can see these looking brilliantly fresh with one of your drapey black tops.

My biggest problem with white pants is the transparency factor: It detracts from the chic when you can see seams, pockets, etc, and it's not even about how fitted they are (one of my worst offenders is a loose pair). I hope these work as I look forward to seeing them get your signature styling.

I'm interested in how you will style these.

I am going to do a 5 piece for my seasons, summer, winter, and transitional.

Interesting to hear others have their struggles with white jeans too. I am quite excited to go try these on during the week. My black ones are a summer workhorse so these could be the 'one' !

They may take some getting used to, but I predict you will fall in love with white jeans. Such a great way to "lighten up" your palette. I hope they work for you!
