Help me choose new specs?

Hi Ladies,

I have been so thrilled with the glasses I got last year (see Find below).

I am now wanting to add another one or two new frames so have been on line seeing if anything takes my fancy.

I have a small face so need the lense to be around 50mm. I can drop down to say 49 or go up to 51 but not more than that.

#1  Calvin Klein  - marbled green tone
#2  Elizabeth & James - is described as amber
#3  Elizabeth & James - pink
$4 Kam Dhillon -  dark blue

I order my glasses on line so I cannot try these on.  Based on all the research I did last year I think the shapes would be fine but just wondering what you think re colours (and shape of course).  I haven't chosen colour on purpose but I don't necessarily need another pair of black frames.  BUT just in case I do, #5 are Christian Siriano.

I tend to struggle a little choosing frames so would be so appreciative of any thoughts you may have.

xxx Deborah

Deborah, how much do you wear your glasses? I don't think I have seen you in them : )
I rather like #1 marbled green and #4 dark blue. I like the idea of an amber colour, though on my little phone screen it looks pink!
I've never ordered glasses online. Are there any tips you can share?

I like #1 the best by far, but do you think it's going to be enough contrast with your skin and hair? I don't like the little rose gold detail in #2 and how top heavy #3 is. Not sure about the shape of #4, but I do think the color would probably look great on you. I wouldn't get another black pair.

As I guess that you already own a black pair, I'd go for the first pair- I love them.

Helen I wear my glasses a lot:). For reading and computer and any detail - even started wearing them when I eat lol. I don't need them for driving or when I'm out and about but they are multi focus and I'm wearing them more and more. I wear them pretty much all day at work :)

I did a lot of research and tried lots of shapes and colours at brick and mortar stores. I have trouble finding frames that are small enough so that's why I tried on line. It was also more cost effective and my health cover provides a rebate:).

Adela and Astrid, thank you. At the moment I'm leaning towards 4 or 5:)

Will your local optometrists still do any adjustments for you? (I went back 3 times with my new pair, which I figured is covered in the price I paid! )

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Helen I must have been lucky because my glasses were perfect! No adjustments necessary which was quite unexpected ;)

Ooh...that first pair! I can just picture them on you, Deborah! I have 4 pairs of specs and I wear them all in rotation, depending on my outfit. They are all very different in both colour and style. I like rotating my specs as I have extremely sensitive skin and it helps prevent chafing and skin damage in the same spot.

Whatever you choose will be fab, I'm sure. You have such a great eye!

At first, I was immediately drawn to the red/pink ones, because I can see that colour on you quite easily. But then Astrid's comments influenced me against those particular frames...she's right, I think.  I am not a fan of the first pair - they are kind of wishy washy in terms of colour.  I'd then go with the dark blue ones, or how about pale blue?   or an aqua?

#1 or #3 get my vote for colour, Debs. Shape is hard to determine without your lovely face in the specs.

  • Bijou replied 8 years ago

I'm favouring #4 because I like the dark blue and think it would be a good contrast with your colouring.  It is interesting that Angie picked the lighter colours for you and would love to see how they work out. Personally I have glasses (that I wear occasionally as I prefer contact lenses) and always seem to default towards a black frame for the contrast against my fair colouring.  I have been looking at Tiffany frames that are black at the front and light blue at the back of the frame, which felt like enough of a change for me.

#3 is my favorite, followed closely by #1, but it is difficult to say without  seeing them on your face.

What Angie said! We've got to see you in them! :)

Well, There are different styles and frames are available for reading glasses. As these wholesale reading glasses are used by most of the people while reading, driving and even some wear as a fashion accessory. So, there are different sites like https://citysunglass.com/produ.....ng-glasses, Amazon, etc are accessible on the Internet selling eye-wear frames.

If you are not sure how they wil look- you can go to a website called
Zenni optical inc (us). This is their USA division-Don’t know if they have other countries- sorry
Anyway- they do not carry name brand frames BUT you can upload a picture of yourself and try frames that are close in looks to the name brand style. It might give you a way to see if you like the look. On you in the pic. Then you can go to your vendor knowing a little more about how you would look in a similar style.
That said- 1&4 are my favs. Love color of both.
