Colour & Pattern

Hi Ladies,

I posted this dress as a potential item in my small work capsule  (for my Motto job) to mixed responses.  I was also skeptical but found myself very attracted to the pattern, so I tried it today and I did buy it.

There is no question that this type of pattern adds a little to my frame and is not as slimming as a darker solid BUT I really liked it?!?  It's a poly/spandex and the fabric is a lovely weight and skims the body.  I think it probably looks better IRL with movement than in a still pic.

It can be worn as a dress alone, or also looks quite good with a cropped legging (it was too warm to try it when I got home)

Still playing with footwear but I realised very quickly today that flats are the go given I am on my feet for so long so I just popped these sandals on to try.  For non work wear, my open toe booties, or block heel sandals will be great.

So what do you think?  It is primarily for work, where I am meant to be showcasing the clothing but I think I might end up wearing more than just to work.

I am wondering tho if I might have lost the plot.  Does it work to your eye?

Thanks
xxx Deborah

It is very pretty and with spring in the air... You have such a keen eye that your take on movement in IRL should be taken on board. Is the armhole a bit big? Sometimes keeping the armhole neat makes that subtle but important difference . I really like it.

You look amazing! The fit is totally your style! A big yes!

Sweet sister! I love this! It is quite a departure from your usual solids and a fun addition to your wardrobe. I missed the original post, and I'm glad you decided to purchase it. Fun, chic, and stylish, and you look gorgeous.

I think it looks wonderful on you! Sometimes it's fun to step outside of our fashion comfort zones and try something new. In this case, it totally works. You look beautiful!

No question this is gorgeous on you, and I don't think the print adds to your frame at all. But I am going to be a bit of a spanner: I think I'd like it better if it were more tunic length, worn with leggings or tights as in the model pic. Even with the high-low hem, it seems a tad long to my eye, and the shape of your legs is a bit lost between the hem and sandal, since there's more going on given the print. Ideally, I'd like to see the dress shortened a bit, or maybe try a lower contrast shoe? But you make a great point about movement vs a still shot, so I might be noticing something that doesn't exist IRL.

And you got a job at Motto? Can't believe I missed that! How perfect for you.

Not your usual. Really nice you though. I think it's a nice change, for spring.

I like it! It's that bit lighter and brighter for the warm weather. I think you'll enjoy it as a work outfit, and I'll be interested to see if it merges into the rest of your wardrobe.
And am I allowed to say ....let me know when it's no longer current stock and comes off your rotation, as per your plan?

    !!!
It's a departure for you, but I think it looks great!

One small quibble I have is that the pattern is mismatched on the front across the seam.... On the model, it's very mismatched, which I don't mind, but on yours it looks like they tried to match and messed up a little. Does that bother you? I think it would bother me and I'd rather have the completely mismatched one.

LOVE the dress. FWIW, do think it needs a heel - it's very long - and perhaps a non-black shoe.

Style shift for you too, I see. 2015 has been the year of change!

I like it a LOT. The sleeves are really fun, too! It is slightly long; maybe try pinning it up an inch or two and seeing if that works even better with flats. That's the priority for work wear.

And, I like it better on you than in the previously linked picture! Wow, quite bold, but somehow still you-and springy! Not only the cut(which is totally your style), but  think it is the bigger, still irregular, asymmetric and mixed pattern, and the big white patches, here and there!

I am always attracted to this kind of color and pattern, and I love it on you - I think varying one factor is a good way to shift your style.  So this is a shape you'd wear, but a new pattern.

Before reading anyone's comments, I had the same thought as Aliona - I'd like it to be a little shorter all the way around.  I like the pattern and fit on you overall besides that one quibble.

I like the pattern on you a lot. I agree with people saying it looks a bit long.

Thanks ladies! And for being open to something a little different;). The dress is definitely going to work better with a heel but I think I might be able to work it with the right low or flat heel too;). The pattern not matching is not an issue in this instance. If the pattern was more uniform then yes but this is kind of hectic and all over the place to my eye;)
