Boot Project:)

It's a cold and lazy Saturday afternoon, I am rewatching series 1 of The Fall and it seemed the right time to work on a little boot project!

Some time back I coloured these, formerly white ankle boots navy and black but they are not leather and it wasn't as perfect I wanted it to be. So when I saw the Maison Margiela Boots in #4 I decided to try for a distressed, and dare I say it, RATE look.

I'm actually happy with the end result! Ofcourse I need to wear them and see if how I feel and if this passes for intentional. I may find strangers come up to me asking how I spilt the paint on my boots lol.

What do you think! Edgy cool or just plain silly ?

I'm with Jessica. Very cool! Very edgy! I want to see them styled. :-)

Me too! Looking forward to seeing them in action. I think they are more RATE than I've seen you wear (in the short time I've been here) but that's what keeps things interesting. I would never think to try a DIY like that, you are very creative.

Definitely a success. Post-apocalyptic, maybe? Edgy cool for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing something distressed in one of your outfits.

Cool - now go wear them! :)

Thumbs up. How did you achieve the effect, Debs?

  • E replied 8 years ago

They look great! And still polished to me, hehe.

Love! Better than the MM pair IMO.

You did a great job on these. They are much more rate than I usually think of your style. It will be interesting to see how you feel wearing them.

Now I am really excited. Thanks for the thumbs up ladies.

Angie, I originally coloured these black. I got the stripping solution and used a towel and just rubbed them with the solution until I got the effect I wanted:)

I will post pics as soon as I wear them xxx

Can't wait to see these styled. I like that they would add a texture-like element.

    oops ,duplicate

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

Aha. You're a crafty and clever gal, Debs. I love the boots.

  • Meredith replied 8 years ago

    Those look amazing!!!

  • Jeweled replied 8 years ago

A neat boot option for your wardrobe!  I like that your version looks like a patina, very RATE.

I like yours better than the Maison Margiela version, which looks more like marbling, and not really RATE.

    They are great and UNIQUE!

  • Elly replied 8 years ago

Oh, Deborah! I love them. I hope they play well with your wardrobe.

They look great! Really unusual. You did a fab job and I can see you getting a lot of use out of them.

  • karymk replied 8 years ago

Wow Deborah are you taking orders for these? They don't look "crafts" at all.  Wear them with confidence and never look back.
