WIW : Winter Style

Hi Ladies,

I feel funny posting winter outfits when so many of you are in summer:)

We are experiencing our cold period here. It doesn't last too long but I find myself wearing a uniform of skinny ponte leggings or skinny pants, top, jacket and then coat over that.

I haven't posted much of late as we seem to have so much going on that spare time is still at a premium:(

Here are some outfits I have worn over the past few weeks ...the pink is for Angie x

I love those looks out on the blogosphere where we wear sandals with winter outfits but seriously it's just not an option here. Full leg and foot coverage is absolutely essential. Its during this cold snap that I tend to feel the most frustrated with my outfits as practicality means what I can wear can be a little limited, hence the uniform.

I have also over dosed a little on light grey sweaters. I can't wear a turtle neck but the soft slouchy necks work beautifully and are so warm.

Also I have noticed a pattern. Each year as we come to the latter stages of winter I tend to purchase a couple of new items to freshen up my winter wardrobe. They are usually items that layer well and will see me into Spring. (see #5 and #6 - I may have just popped into Metalicus on the weekend.

WIW: Harem Pants (not 'Lite') :)

Hi Ladies,

I was inspired by Angie's blog post to wear my harems today. I wore this to the office and I must admit the harem pants were not quite warm enough :). The sweater has a high / low hemline and a split at the back.

WIW : Grey Day

Hi Ladies,

Happy Weekend to you all.   It never seems to stop around here!!  My MIL is in hospital and not doing too well.  We are visiting daily and and juggling that with work and school holidays:)  If you have a moment, prayers and kind thoughts for my MIL would be so appreciated :)

Very little time for photos this week, but I have made the effort this morning :)  This is a new dress from Cotton On.  I bought two!! This one in grey and the same in black.  They are fab dresses.  Comfy, easy to wear.  Wear on their own or layer over them.

Elle was keen to know a little more, so... fabric is soft and quality is 'good'. It's more the top end of the quality spectrum available at Cotton On.  Easy to wear, I have a slinky jersey slip dress on under for warmth and so the dress remains draped smoothly.  Quite transeasonal.  Jacket or topper of some sort and boots now but in Spring it will work with lighter shoe and just scrunch the sleeves.  For $30 I think it's good value.  I am expecting it it will wash up just fine in the machine based on previous Cotton On purchases in this fabric.

I took three pics. One just worn as is and two with an orphan knit vest I haven't known what to do with - I think may have at least one thing to wear with it know :)

Thanks for looking.  Feedback always appreciated.

WIW : A 100% Emotional Purchase

Hi Ladies,

Hope everyone is well and I know that everyone is looking AB Fab!

I survived my first week of Monday to Friday, and the 3.00 p.m. finish is wonderful. I am feeling challenged and excited about my job (my job share colleague finished up on Thursday) and it's really good to be back in a role where the buck stops with me.

On the fashion front its been fun having to dress for the office every day, and my outfits have been what you would expect... black layers and I am enjoying wearing my jackets. But today (Saturday shopping for new clothes for DS) I felt like a touch of colour so I got out a new cape I bought a few weeks ago. As you know it is Winter here, but our summer seemed to go on for ever and by the time I started looking at new purchases for Winter, a lot of Winter stock was already on sale... win!

I love the ombre effect we have seen in clothing but to date had not seen anything that I liked enough to buy (apart from Brooklyn's ombre black and white jacket *sigh*). This cape is a wool blend, the tones running through are navy, burgundy, soft pink, and grey and the trim around the edges is black. This was definitely an emotional purchase! I fell in love with the colours, taking me a little out of my comfort zone, but the shape and fit are very me.

Today my outfit was all about what I felt like wearing. Not as carefully curated as most of my outfits. I felt like wearing my striped tee and I felt like wearing the new cape.. so I wore them together. Master 13 didn't like the combo. He gently suggested I swap the stripes for a plain white top;) But I liked the combo so I wasn't swayed. Does it work to your collective eye?

I have also purchased two new dresses from Cotton On. A nice soft jersey and the style is so me I couldn't resist buying it in the grey as well as the black.

Thanks for looking. Off to catch up on the Forum.

WIW : Winter Has Arrived!

Hi Fabbers,

Yay, it appears we have almost bypassed Autumn and Winter has arrived a few days early... and I couldn't be happier lol.

So as you may have guessed, more black layers and how exciting to be getting the boots out finally :)

Wore this to the shop today for work so it's all Motto.  My favourite skirted leggings from last year, jersey cami and twist top from the current range. The top as you can see twists at the front but it's long and tunic like at the back (see #3).

The necklace is new and is from a Canberra based designer, House of Poly, https://houseofpoly.com who works with polymer clay.   I have got to know her a little and she is just gorgeous and I really like her work.  I fell in love with the necklace and have found it works with almost everything and adds a lovely touch of 'light' to my all black.

Thanks for looking.  Feedback, suggestions for improvement or other styling thoughts much appreciated.

WIW: Cropped Pants & Layers

I loved Angie's post on cropped pants:). Mine are not as cropped but for some reason this is the length that I like on me:). Still gives me a variety of shoe choices.

Wearing cropped pants, long asymmetric tunic and shorter Waterfall jacket. The flats have been de-orphaned after purchasing them at a YLF meet up and not wearing them;).

Master 13 snapped this on my phone before church this morning.

Bonus shot of Ninja who has now been with us for about 5 weeks. I am so surprised at how much I adore her. She is a lovely companion, and much more social and affectionate than I expected from a cat.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

WIW : Is it a skirt or a top ;)

Hi Ladies,

Another couple of pics of my skirt but this time worn as a top.  I was a little skeptical but the fit is quite good and I liked the softness the draped panel added to a harder edge black look.

Jacket / Peter Morrissey
Top / Zippy Skirts
Skinny Pants / Katies
Boots / Aldi

What do you think?  I felt a little insecure wearing a strapless top but the band is quite firm and thankfully I did not fall victim to any wardrobe mulfunctions ;)

Thanks for looking

WIW : Seasonally Confused:)

Hi Fabbers,

Our weather is all over the place, no consistency at all:) My outfit may seem a little seasonally confused but it was right for today. Covered arms but peep toes!!

These pants have quickly become go to pants for me, I am really enjoying wearing them.

Teamed them with a Bell Top, and Long Sleek Cardigan today for work at the store.

#2 was me playing around with some photo ideas with some flowers my lovely DH bought me this week ... an early Mothers Day gift he said :) I loved that he got the blue. They are dyed. The only thing better would have been black lol

Thanks for looking. Suggestions, styling ideas always very much appreciated.

WIW : A Zippy Skirt:)

Happy Monday everyone!

I came across a local designer recently on Instagram who has created what she calls a 'travel skirt'.  The idea being that if you are travelling for work, this is the only skirt you need to take and you build your outfits around it.  I thought it was a clever idea and I was keen to try it out.  It's always cool to see what local independent designers are doing.

The skirt has a zip running horizontally across the front of the skirt that is hidden by the folded waistband.  There are then number of 'panels' that can zip onto the skirt to create different looks, along with a pouch for travelling.

This was my first wearing, and I have worn it simply as a short straight skirt (no panel) over leggings to do some running around.  Thankfully it is cooling down here (finally) and I was able to wear a jacket too.

And look at me getting more and more daring everyday.  Another set of pics taken outdoors, in front of my garage door.  I worry the neighbors are going to think I'm mad taking photos of myself lol.

Thanks for looking.

WIW : More EF Harem Styling:)

Hi Fabbers,

I wore my EF Harems to church this morning. I must admit I was somewhat uninspired.  Feeling a little tired and unmotivated today but nothing a nice nap on the couch with the sun streaming in can't fix lol.

I think I have only posted one EF Harem outfit so far but I am having fun playing with tops and proportions.  Today I wore:

#1 - #4
EF Harem Pants
Metalicus Metallic Open Weave Sweater
(layered a cotton tank in navy under it)
Target Shooties

I know there are quite a few ladies with these pants, and also other versions of the harem pant, and many of us have questioned styling options.  Do we need to start a thread to share how we have styled ours??  I for one would love all the inspiration in one place.

Thanks for looking
